At Camp Gan Israel in Parksville, NY, the campers are encouraged to give extra thought and attention to their learning, even from the youngest age.
The camp staff has come up with a revolutionary idea – to have the campers prepare a “Kovetz He’oros” by creating their very own “Campers’ Kovetz.”
The booklet of questions and notes on what was learned in their learning classes “gives the campers the opportunity to express their creative, youthful questions and answers in a fun and rewarding way,” says the editor, who is also a staff member in the camp.
Although this idea has never been tried before, he says, it is already proving to be very promising. “It’s only the second week, and we are pleasantly surprised by the non-stop flow of submissions that keep coming in,” he says.
Inside the Kovetz there is a wealth of knowledge for the campers to explore. The first section contains the questions and answers by the campers. Next comes the “Food for Thought” – which is quite literally food for thought, to help the campers dig a little deeper into the subjects being learned in camp.
Additional sections are “It’s a Fact,” containing interesting facts on the topics being learned, and a page of riddles titled “Ever Wonder?”. Finally, a story page can be found on the back page of the Kovetz.
“You may be amazed by the quality of some of the “Klotz Kashes,” says the proud editor, “some of which can only be pondered by the pure mind of a child.”

In the booklet from parshas pinchas it says that the reason why electricty on shabbos is oser is because its like building. That is only the opinion of the chazon ish, however most other poskim, hold that the issur of electricity is because it is like molid.
so we can all enjoy
perhaps they can implement it in our boys schools
Awesome innovative idea!
