Manning a Tefillin booth in a shopping mall in Ashdod, the Mashpia Rabbi Michael Taib from Kfar Chabad hears many interesting stories, but one that took place recently was exceptionally unique.
A mother and son who lived in the Kfar Aza kibbutz in Southern Israel approached the Tefillin booth requesting to put on Tefillin. They also asked to recite the “HaGomel” blessing of thanksgiving to Hashem.
They said they experienced a miracle, having been rescued by Israeli soldiers from their home when Hamas terrorists launched their massacre on October 7th.
Rabbi Taib helped them with saying the blessing and putting on Tefillin. He then mentioned that two of his sons, Mendel and Zalman, serve in the IDF and were presently in Gaza battling Hamas.
Interested, the woman asked to see a photo of the boys, and immediately broke down in tears when she saw the photo.
Recognizing the face of Mendel, the woman burst into tears, saying, “Your son is the commander of the Rotem Givati battalion, which rescued us from our home.”
