In a special initiative marking the 30th yahrzeit of the Rebbe, Keren Mamosh, under the auspices of Mache Israel awarded 100 special grants to Chabad-Lubavitch institutions around the world, providing much needed seed money for new programs launched in honor of the milestone yahrzeit.
“Financial backing for the Keren Mamosh grants came primarily from a small group of dedicated Machne Israel donors,” said Rabbi Shmaya Krinsky, executive director of Machne Israel. According to Mr. Yossi Michelashvili, a principal donor to this project, “many thousands will benefit from the initiatives that the shluchim will create thanks to this grant. This is our greatest reward.”
In Jerusalem’s Rechavia and Nachlaot neighborhoods, a Keren Mamosh grant will help open a lounge focused on mental and emotional wellness for soldiers suffering from PTSD and other conditions. In Atwater Village, California, a grant will see birthday kits delivered to locals to create a feeling of community and remind them of the Rebbe’s Birthday Campaign. In Fort Wayne, Indiana, a brand-new Hebrew school will open serving local Jewish children.
In Rochester, Minnesota, a new kosher Co-op will serve patients at Mayo Clinic. In Or Akiva, Israel, new mothers will receive care packages, elaborate meals, and practical support. In Melbourne, Australia, a new, unique educational program will bring study opportunities to seniors.
In thanking the donors who took part in this initiative, Rabbi Yehuda Krinsky noted that “the Rebbe’s shluchim are always dreaming up new and innovative ways to impact their communities, sometimes all they need is but a small grant to help transform their ideas into facts on the ground. The results are incalculable.”
