Each day has its specific mission.
As Chasidim of the Rebbe we are fortunate that each special day has its own mivzta where participation and fulfillment of it not only benefits us but also the person/people whom we are interacting with.
Marching orders given to us by the Rebbe provide a spiritual structure to the day enabling us to utilize its special energy to the fullest.
On Rosh Hashanah we not only hear the Shofar ourselves but go out into the streets ensuring that other Jews also fulfill the mitzvah. On Sukkos we take to the streets day after day ensuring that as many Jews as possible heed the call of the day. The same is true for Chanukah, Purim, Pesach etc.
Today is Chof Beis Shevat, the 35th yahrzeit of Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka. The Rebbetzin was an incredibly private person who sacrificed her all for the benefit of the Chasidim and in turn the entire world.
Immediately upon returning from her levaya, the Rebbe asked Rabbi Krinsky to arrange for the establishing of a charitable organization–Keren Hachomesh–with a mandate to support women in need and various charitable causes related to Jewish women and girls. This was the only time the Rebbe founded a new organizational corporation outside of the three organizations established by the Frierdiker Rebbe.
The Rebbe would encourage donations in the amount of 470 (the numerical value of the Rebbetzin’s name) in order to perpetuate the Rebbetzins legacy.
Today, Keren Hachomesh is hosting an online fundraiser with a goal of $470,000.00 and thanks to a group of generous matchers all donations are being matched 2 – 1.
Heed the Rebbe’s call of TODAY.
