On Rosh Chodesh Kislev 1977, the Rebbe left his office in 770 Eastern Parkway for the first time since suffering a major heart attack 5 weeks earlier, on the eve of Shemini Atzeres.
The Rebbe returned to his home, signaling his recovery. Chassidim all over rejoiced at the good news and to this day, the occasion is marked with a Chassidic farbrengen.
The annual farbrengens celebrating the joyous day were held on Thursday night at the main shul and the upstairs Zal at 770 with chassidim and bochurim participating.
