Jewish Stars Take the Stage

Following the annual Israel Day Parade which was held Sunday on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, hundreds of Jewish families remained in Central Park for a musical tribute to Israel.

The concert was the 19th annual Dr. Manfred R. Lehmann Memorial Israel Day Concert, organized by Dr. Joseph Frager and chairpersons Dr. Paul and Drora Brody of “The Concert with a Message.”

Emceed by radio personality Nochum Segal, children and adults enjoyed a full-on concert with music played by the Shloimie Dachs Orchestra.

Yitzi Bald‘s New York Boys Choir performed their hit song ‘Ma’aminim’ and Yemenite Israeli singer Avner Levy and Yehuda Green performed.

But a sensation on stage was no doubt the performance of 4 young singers who competed in Season Three of A Jewish Star singing competition this past year. Jewish Star Junior winner Dovid Moscovits along with contestants Mendel Piekarski, Shlomo Skolnik and Mendel Antelis were enthusiastically welcomed to the stage and gave it their best.

Dovid Moscovits performed an Adon Olam medley and Mendel Piekarski sang his brand new upbeat dance hit “Eloka D’Meir Aneini.”

Other performers included Tal Vaknin, accompanied by pianist extraordinaire Shlomi Aharoni, alumni of the IDF Rabbinical Orchestra and Choir, direct from Israel; Avi Peretz accompanied by the popular Ouri Bitan; Jerry Markovitz and Chaim Kiss.
