I would love to see a girls contest just for fun! How nice would it be for talented Jewish girls to be able to compete in a kosher environment? I personally can’t sing but my daughters can and I know they would love it! My eight year old has been asking if I could find her a place to compete! Hope it happens!

People should sing from their heart to H’ and in order to inspire others. Not to compete and receive accolades. Every yid is a Jewish Star and there shouldn’t be a contest to make one think they are, or for the rest of the contestants, that they are not. I think having an avenue for musicians to perform and share their talent is excellent, but it needn’t feed people’s ego and insecurities. Funny how none of the women mentioned Kineret as a possible judge. From what I remembered growing up, she was the “Queen” of Jewish music for women only!

A know how much te women are jealous of the men but will it really make a difference if there is a women contest. They can’t make it public anyway. There are enough places and girl singers to around. You don’t need to fight to be a star- eery women us a star already. Will people really have time to do that? Its a cute fun idea but think it through and be practical. What, and having a contest for men is perfectly okay since their heads can’t be filled with “shtus” from being famous and popular? If such issues were considered, there wouldn’t even be the contest for men… Get over yourself – men are subjected to the same “dangers” you pose as women are.

Moshe Bitton is 1 of the 8 contestants. He made the trip from Tiberias, Israel with money collected from friends, familly & even yeshiva bochurs. He is eating in the soup kitchen in Crown Heights.
