A Jewish man was violently mugged early Friday morning in a building in Crown Heights.
At 4:45 am, the 37 year old male was in the lobby of the apartment building at 701 Empire Boulevard between Albany and Troy Avenues, when he was punched from behind, causing minor injuries to his hand and left side of his face, police said.
The assailant stated that he wants money, and displayed a rock.
The victim gave his wallet and a Samsung cell phone, and the mugger fled.
After calling 911, a canvas of the area was conducted by police and Shmira volunteers, however the mugger was not caught. Police are waiting to recover possible video footage of incident from building.

When I lived at 701 a few years ago, someone broke into my apt through the window and stole a bunch of valuables! We need to have more video cameras in these places!
