A Jewish man narrowly escaped a gun threat while driving on Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights, Brooklyn on Monday evening.
The incident occurred at approximately 8:30 pm when the Lubavitcher man, a resident of Crown Heights, pulled up at a traffic light and advanced slightly ahead of a black SUV. The driver of the SUV, whom the victim describes as a black male, began driving very close to the Jewish driver’s car, nearly hitting it.
The Lubavitcher sped up and tried to escape, but the SUV driver did not let up and continued to follow him. When they reached the corner of Eastern Parkway and Brooklyn, the SUV driver pulled out a gun and held it to the window towards the Jewish man’s car.
In a panic, the Jewish man drove quickly towards Kingston Avenue, with the suspect still chasing him. When the Jewish man arrived at the NYPD mobile unit stationed permanently opposite 770, the suspect fled and turned onto Kingston Avenue towards St. John’s Place at high speed.
Authorities are investigating the matter.
Although as a community we did not back Curtis Sliwa for Mayor, as a Mother & Bubbie I think it is time to beg his outstanding organization to come back and help us. HaShem should help, I am literally afraid of what the next headline could be !

Is there someone here who could spearhead some private fundraising to “encourage” Curtis Sliwa to come & patrol our streets to protect us ASAP ? Criminals don’t follow laws about robbery, theft, etc. They don’t follow the current exceptionally restrictive (and likely unconstitutional) NY gun laws as it is.
New laws will only serve to hamper the law abiding.
These laws won’t simply say “don’t kill someone” or “don’t threaten someone with a firearm.”
The laws will prevent someone from even being able to attain a gun in the first place.
New laws will allow us to sleep easier because less people will have access to guns.
Do you really think the criminals buy their guns from the stores that need to abide by the gun laws? Have you ever thought for a second how drug addicts get their drugs that the “law” is supposed to prevent???
Criminals buy guns from stores that do not abide by gun laws because most red states don’t have gun laws! If they did have gun laws then it would be much more difficult for a criminal to buy a gun. Logic and common sense go a long way, huh?
And yet magically those guns become dangerous only when brought into blue cities.
Get your head out of the sand and realize that _criminals don’t get their guns through legal channels_, so restricting those legal channels does nothing as far as reducing crime, but prevents the law-abiding from defending themselves.
What more has to happen for our community to realize security is the biggest issue we are facing… it won’t go away unless we have our own security. That’s where we should put our time and energy.
We need background checks and red flag laws and we need to stop voting in candidates who support the NRA, no more MAGA republicans in government!

If you make it more difficult for someone to buy a gun, then yes the chances of a “thug” attaining one will be much lower than a country where anyone can buy a gun without any type of screening or background check.
Criminals don’t obtain guns legally. Criminals don’t follow laws. More laws will only harm those who are law abiding.
If you do any research regarding the latest mass shootings in America, you will find that most of these men bought their guns legally within the US.
Countries where guns are more difficult for people to buy due to background checks and red flag laws have less mass shootings than the US. That’s not coincidence, that’s practical law and common sense.
Have you done any research about other dangers where criminals get around the “difficulties”? I would like to know what the research says about how people get drugs that are “illegal”.

Because the New York Slimes never, no not ever, shades and falsifies the facts. Have they also given any information on guns that were purchased legally and used for self-defense, for example?
So why not make it even more difficult for them and pass gun control legislation?!
If you’re so worried about gun violence then why in the world would you oppose gun control?! Even if it makes Americans 1% safer, does that not count as a significant percentage?!

Ir doesn’t “make Americans even 1% safer.” It does nothing to prevent criminals – who, let it not be forgotten, _don’t follow the law_ – from getting weapons, but prevents the law-abiding from defending themselves, thus making them less safe.
Pass the laws! But don’t stick your head in the sand and think that this is going to stop the crime!!! It’s a knee jerk reaction every time. How about focusing on the criminals???

I myself was driving to make a Right turn, and 2 black males jump right in front of me by foot, and I heard language that you can think of…… And I sped off, the 2 guys (withe Force) hit my back window, and thank God nothing happened.

Is it possible that our community leaders may be too friendly with the powers that be and find it hard to disapprove of any of their actions, that are NOT for our benefit?
