More than a hundred days have passed since the war broke out in Ukraine and the throngs of immigrants to the Holy Land from the burning country, understand that they are here to stay and start their lives anew. Several days ago, the immigrants were amazed to receive a unique surprise package.
“Your box of Judaism!” Is written in large letters on the custom-made package, in which each immigrant is presented with a “Welcome Kit”, full of basic products for every Jewish home, relevant for use during the Jewish yearly cycle, filled with holidays and festivals.
In the festive package, there are eighteen articles ready for the immigrants from Ukraine: a white tablecloth for Shabbat, a crystal salt shaker, a challah tray, a charity box, candlesticks for Shabbat candles, a hand-washing cup, a challah cover, a honey dish, a menorah, a Havdalah candle holder, a Havdalah spice box, a Siddur in Russian, Psalms in Russian, Chumash in Russian, mezuzah, Kiddush Cup, Jewish dolls for the children and a picture of the Rebbe.
The elegant packages, carefully prepared by ‘The Federation of Jewish Communities in the Former Soviet Union’ for the immigrant community from Ukraine, are currently being distributed by representatives of the Tzeirei Chabad B’Aliyah, who direct functions among Russian speakers and immigrants from Ukraine, during home visits which they practice regularly to immigrants’ houses.
“It is the Jewish toolbox”, explained one of the emissaries, “which gives every immigrant the basic opportunity to live a Jewish life. We naturally supply them with the all-embracing feel of community and grant them the conditions for adapting and continuing their Jewish community life as they have become accustomed to in Ukraine.”
Simultaneously with the distribution of the packages, presently Chabad emissaries in Ukraine continue to rehabilitate and re-establish the Jewish communities that were harmed during the months of war, with special efforts to visit homes of community elders who have not left their homes since the severe war broke out.
That is so nice! I hope this helps people and they continue being helped to settle
This is so creative and beautiful. Hashem should shower all those who participated in this project with brachos. Helping the immigrants spiritually and emotionally by helping them feel like they have a “ home” no matter where they are when they light those candles Friday night and use that Shabbos tablecloth.
Yishar koach!!!!
