Mamilla Avenue burst into light on the first night of Chanuka with the Opening Ceremony for Chabad of Talbiya’s Menorah lightings, directed by Shluchim Eli and Chana Canterman.
The event featured musical artists Daniel Zamir, Aron Razel and Chazan Dovid Caytak.
The first candle was dedicated by the Chen family in memory of their daughter Nava Ruth’s first yahrtzeit.
On night two, special children from the Shalva school were recognized and paid tribute to in the presence of Israel’s Chief Rabbi Lau. Their spectacular choir livened and charged the evening with much emotion. Chief Rabbi Lau stunned the crowd when he chose to forego his right to light the menorah, honoring children from Shalva with the Brochos and lighting…There wasn’t a dry eye after that and the hearts of the children soared with joy and appreciation.
Jerusalem Klezmer dancers brought Mamilla Avenue to a state of frenzy and added simcha with their musical and artistic performance.
Motzei Shabbos, the Shluchim of Talbiya honored the Lone Soldiers who lit the candles and were then treated to a melave malka offered by Cafe Rimon, giving the soldiers an evening of relaxation and respite to the heroes.
The dancing that night was exhilarating, with soldiers hoisted on the shoulders of Yeshiva boys. The unity was palpable and the joy, boundless.
Sunday night, dedicated to the children of Israel and he future of our nation, saw hundreds of doughnuts distributed and Torah Psukim recited, followed by an outstanding performance by the Miami Boys Choir in Israel, led by Director Menachem Klein. The singers were at their best and when the choir ended, the onlookers remained in their places, not wanting to leave.
Additional events will be held on nights 6 -8 as well, honoring families of victims of terror and United Hatzalah.

Go Chana Canterman (Rutman), you and Rabbi Eli should have much hatzlocho.
CHAVI KONIKOV – Miss you !!
The reason there are numbers is because this was an ancient building that was destroyed years ago. Archeologsts put the stones all back together that’s why there are numbers to make sure they fit perfectly to how they used to be.
Me too wondering …..
You are doing great work!
