Frum chef and bestselling cookbook author Jamie Geller was recently invited back to her hometown of Philadelphia to present a cooking demonstration at the Lubavitcher Center.
180 women and girls gathered for the annual event in memory of Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka Schneerson OBM whose birthday is tomorrow, Adar 25.
Welcoming the crowd was Head Shliach Rabbi Avraham Shemtov who spoke about the uniqueness of the Rebbetzin and the example she had shown throughout her life.
The event was organized by Mrs. Batsheva Shemtov, Shluchos and volunteers of Chabad Philadelphia.
Jamie was honored to commemorate this occasion and share her love for Judaism and cooking with the Philadelphia community.
The elaborate display of food ranged from salads and pasta to a fancy dessert buffet, including a chocolate fountain and hot Belgian-style waffles.
The highlight of the afternoon was when Jamie spoke about how she went from the Bride Who Knew Nothing to a bestselling cookbook author.
Everyone laughed, learned a little and even got to see Jamie’s proud mother beam with nachas in the crowd.
Jamie demonstrated some of her favorite Quick & Kosher recipes: Chilled Salmon with a Duet of Dipping Sauces, Asian Cabbage Salad with Garlic Sesame Dressing and Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Mousse Pie. And everyone got to enjoy a taste!
Everyone was excited to meet Jamie and have her sign copies of her latest cookbook Quick & Kosher: Meals in Minutes. The crowd also scrambled to join her mailing list and follow Jamie online at blog.Kosher.com.
As a souvenir, attendees were able to take home a collection of free Quick & Kosher recipe cards.

I’m not sure this article makes it clear that the dessert buffet and chocolate fountain were courtesy of N’shei Chabad and that the salads, pasta and waffles served at the luncheon were catered by Cafe Espresso, Philadelphia.
to #4 they make Worcestershire sauce without fish and it was a beautiful event. Well done to the Northeast Philly Chabad!!!
Mom is the best!!! raising 2 great daughters!!!!
Friend from Crown St!!!
Jamie’s meatloaf recipe uses Worcestershire sauce, which
contains fish and is therefore problematic.
once again Mrs. Shemtov pulled off any amazing event!!
sounds pretty cool!!
You can tell she put her heart and soul into these cookbooks. Besides the recipes there are little stories, various tips and advices, full page pictures of everything, and even suggestions of the proper wine to compliment each dish. Her writing style is fun and her recipes are easy to follow. I enjoy her books and plan to purchase every one that will come out. Great Job!
