The Melbourne Summer Learning Program – Yarchei Kallah, is an annual program of Jewish Learning operating in the heart of the Melbourne Jewish Community.
Run by the Kollel Menachem Lubavitch for over 30 years, this world class program has been a source of inspiration across the spectrum of Melbourne Jewry, engaging and inspiring the hundreds of people that participate each year.
The program runs over the summer break, a time of year when many people are off from work and are available to engage in meaningful learning. The week-long program offers a comprehensive selection of over 60 classes and lectures exploring a variety of classic and contemporary Torah topics, making it the largest annual Torah event in Australia.
Each year we bring the finest international speakers to our community adding to our talented team of local lecturers. Over the years, the likes of Rabbi Levi Wineberg (Johannesburg, South Africa), Rabbi Ari Shishler (Johannesburg, South Africa), Rabbi Nissan Mangel (N.Y., U.S.A.), Rabbi Hershel Greenberg (Buffalo, USA), Rabbi Yossi Chazan (Manchester, U.K.), Dr. Arnie Gotfryd (Toronta, Canada) and Professor Avrohom Hasofer (Sydney, Australia) have enthralled and captivated our audiences.
This year we are privileged to host Rabbi Shlomo Yaffe, Director of the Institute of American and Talmudic Law (N.Y.) and a highly-acclaimed speaker who has addressed audiences across the world. Rabbi Yaffe is joined by our local team of dynamic presenters comprising of local Chabad Rabbis as well as the Rabbis of Kollel Menachem.
The program draws participants from other local communities and Chabad houses. Guests travel especially from interstate to attend.
A new initiative this year is a stream catering to Chabad Houses, offering mekuravim an introductory course, tailored to their needs. This initiative is just another way that the Kollel Menachem has developed to help the community grow by dedicating time to Torah learning.
Another feature will be a seminar with Rabbi Yaffe for lawyers and business professionals, as part of the Kollel’s executive learning programs.

Kollel Menachem serves as the division of Adult Education of the Yeshivah centre in Melbourne. We aim to provide high-quality Torah learning opportunities to the full spectrum of the Melbourne Jewish Community.
Our program includes weekly shiurim, feature lecture series, pre-festival programs and regular learning seminars including our annual Summer Learning Program.
At our core is the Kollel, where young Rabbis advance their study of Jewish law after marriage and develop the skills to serve as future Shluchim and community leaders. Our graduates serve as Rabbis and educators across the world.
The Kollel was established under the auspices of the Lubavitcher Rebbe in 1979 and continues to be a vibrant source of Torah within the Melbourne community.
