More than ten different types of invitations to the Rebbe and Rebbetzin’s wedding were sent by the Rebbe the Rayatz. The wedding took place on Tuesday Kislev 14, 1928, at the yard of the Tomchei Temimim Yeshiva in Warsaw and was attended by thousands.
The Moreshet Auction House is excited to introduce an invitation that was sent to Chabad Chassidim who lived outside the country and who apparently could not attend and therefore the Rebbe added to the third paragraph the words “לידידי ומכירי אשר גם מרחוק יואילו נא לשמוח אתנו יחדיו, ביום שמחת לבבנו” (to my friends and acquaintances who will rejoice with us from afar on the day of our hearts’ joy). In addition, on the margins of the invitation, the address for sending telegrams of greetings was added.
It should be noted that invitations to this historical wedding are extremely rare and only a few are known of.
In one of his Sichot (Torat Menachem Hitva’aduyot section X, p. 198) the Rebbe referred to this invitation, stating that it had four paragraphs and the four letters at their beginning form the word “אהבה” (love).
The invitation is now introduced on the Moreshet website in a special catalog for Chodesh HaGe’ulah and its important days: Kislev 14 – the Rebbe and Rebbetzin’s wedding, Kislev 19 – Chag HaGe’ulah and the upcoming days of Channukah.
The catalog also introduces dozens of items from the Rebbe’s varied Chalukot, which were given by him as eternal souvenirs, beginning with Tanyas, Kuntresim, dollar bills, coins, wine and honey and ending with the last Chalukah “Purim Katan 1992”.
A special section is dedicated to exceptional gifts befitting birthdays, holidays or in appreciation: coins by the Rebbe embedded in silver chains, Cahbad books inlaid with fabric from the Rebbe’s Hitva’adut tablecloth and more.
Last but not least, a place of honor is given at the end of the catalog to Igrot Kodesh by our Rebbes. A General-personal letter dealing with Chag HaGe’ulah, Kiselv 19 and the days of Chanukkah handwritten by the Rebbe and letters with additions and special blessings.
This auction gives a precious opportunity to receive Channukah Gelt from the Rebbe, who greatly valued the custom, tearfully stating once: “Today is Chanukkah. Minhag Yisrael Torah Huh to give Chanukkah Gelt. I will give you Chanukkah Gelt from the Kupah of the Admor who said… that even the smallest coin if given by an Ish Tam Veyashar Yere Elokim and Sar Mera – its recipient will be blessed and succeed – not only materially but also spiritually“.
Don’t miss out! The live auction will be held on Sunday, 15/12/2024 at 20:00 (Israel time).
