Incoming civilian aerial traffic at the Ben Gurion International Airport will cease at 1:40 p.m. Tuesday ahead of Yom Kippur, while the last outgoing flight will leave at 1:55 p.m.
Ben Gurion airport will reopen on Thursday evening at 9:30 p.m. for arrivals, while departures will begin at 11:30 p.m.
The airport said that on Monday, more than 90,000 passengers are expected to pass through Ben Gurion airport on 543 international flights.
Tuesday, Erev Yom Kippur, more than 50,000 passengers will pass through Ben Gurion airport on 314 flights.
On Erev Sukkos, September 23, approximately 84,000 passengers will pass through Ben Gurion International Airport.
During Chol Hamoed Sukkos through the end of September, some 650,000 passengers will pass through Ben Gurion airport.
The most popular destinations in September are Greece, Turkey [mainly as a transit country], Ukraine, Italy and Russia.
The Airports Authority said it will continue to make increased security checking until the end of chagim season at both Ben Gurion airport and the border crossings.
