Among the visitors participating in the Kinus Hashluchos were several mothers of hostages still being held in Gaza.
One of their first stops was at the Jewish Children’s Museum, where they were hosted by Devorah Halberstam the mother of Ari Halberstam who was murdered in a terrorist attack on the Brooklyn Bridge and in whose name the Museum is dedicated.
They listened and heard and draw strength from her own journey as they shared their deep suffering of over 500+ days waiting for their children to come home.
They toured the history floor and were deeply moved by the entire experience.
Following the tour they made their way to influencer and chef Chanie Apfelbaum, Busy in Brooklyn, who has two kosher cookbooks to her credit and well-known globally for her colorful and delicious recipes. She prepared a lovely full-course dinner for them while they talked about faith and strength in their struggles to bring their children home. Chanie prepared the table with the hostages symbols and memorials, adding to the meaning of the event.
