Two Israelis murdered in a terrorist shooting attack in Samaria Sunday afternoon have been identified as brothers from the town of Har Bracha, near Shechem (Nablus).
22-year-old Hillel Menachem Yaniv and his brother, 20-year-old Yagel Yaakov Yaniv, were shot and killed while driving through the Arab village of Huwara on Route 60, the primary north-south traffic artery in Judea and Samaria.
The two were hesder (pre-army) yeshiva students, and were killed while driving back to their yeshivas from their home in Har Bracha.
United Hatzalah volunteer EMT Shlomo Rakover, who arrived first at the scene, said: “Together with additional first responders we performed CPR on two young men who were critically injured. They were then transported to the hospital while undergoing continued resuscitation efforts.”
They were both pronounced dead during the transport to the hospital.
Dozens of Israelis descended on the Palestinian town of Huwara and protested violently after the death of the two brothers in a Hamas-claimed shooting attack.
Homes and vehicles were set ablaze by the Israelis, and violent clashes left at least 98 Palestinians injured, and one Palestinian dead. It was not immediately clear if he was shot by civilians protesting or IDF troops amid the clashes.
The Palestinian Health Ministry reported that at least 20 were treated for smoke and tear gas inhalation, and at least one Palestinian was seriously injured after being struck in the head with a rock.
Israeli PM Binyamin Netanyahu urged for peace, but it appears the tinderbox has already been sparked.
In a statement on Sunday night, Prime Minister Netanyahu reminded people not to take the law into their own hands.
“A terrible tragedy occurred today. I would like to send condolences to the Yaniv family, which lost two of its dear sons; may G-d avenge them,” Netanyahu said.
When will true retaliation begin. Enough with spilling cheap Jewish blood 😢
It’s unfortunate but it’s about time there is a real retaliation 😔😔😔😔
Hashem yinkom damam. Enough.
What’s the connection here so many times 2 brother are being killed ? What is hashem telling us ?
Daf
The Sages taught that on account of four matters the sun is eclipsed: ……….and on account of two brothers whose blood was spilled as one.
what does sun eclipse offer? and in whose world under whose control do brothers get killed?
But maybe it’s time these evil ppl are fought back against, maybe they’ll think twice before the next attack this way!!
May Hashem give strength to their family to survive this.
Both times the brothers names were Menachem and Yaakov. Hashem is telling us that he’s on the verge of comforting (Menachem) The yidden (Yaakov).
So stand ready and hold your breath because it’s about to happen!!
two young humans were murdered. somehow making that ok, seems perverse.
😓😥
Not to condone illegal violence, but it’s sort of like the shevatim killing shechem.
The Arabs shoot indiscriminately after we take out terrorists so they shouldn’t be surprised when they get beat up after killing innocent yiddin.
DO NOT KILL is part of the שבע מצוות בני נח
Two wrongs don’t make a right.ה’ ינקום דמם
What you are saying is warped. It says in Torah that if you see the enemy coming to kill you, kill them first. You don’t stand there and let them keep destroying you. There is a clear and present danger in Israel right now and it will not stop until they are stopped. That is not a ‘WRONG’. You are wrong.
there seems to be a knee-jerk reaction for revenge and retaliation, as if that helps. it’s just part of this cycle we as humans keep perpetuating. i understand a sense or murderous rage at someone who murders a loved one. but i also see that a revenge murder and violence feeds the cycle. what do you think the family of someone hurt or killed in response to these murders will feel (and do)? we can continue to do as humans have done since recorded events, murdering each other with feeling of justifiability, or we can evolve to somehow figure out… Read more »
At the time of the murders there was a meeting with israel, usa, egypt, jordan and PLO in jordan. Usa says israel agreed to a settlement and building freeze for 6 months except for 9 new approved settlements. Also israel agreed to not go into PLO terrorist cities to collect weapons and to not go after terrorists there unless there is an immediate threat. Israel denied agreeing to settlement freeze but didnt deny anything else. Israel agreed to meet again to discuss more concessions in less than a month No concessions should have been made and israel had no right… Read more »
but ill need to add, The Rebbe always said, when ever they talk peace there are Yidishe Korbonos, they will never learn
Money takes, cut all help that Israel provide them money; work, medicine and close their work permits, they will take care of their bad guys themselves.
something is so tragically wrong in our religion if we can resort to violence like this, I’m so ashamed
Nothing in our “religion” says that we should stand by and let these kind of things happen without doing anything about it. The govt is too tolernant. Those murders don’t speak the language of love and civility. They speak the language of blood.
Does it say anywhere that the protestors were religious? And if you remember the Yom Tov of Chanukah was established after the Jews fought against the Greeks and the upcoming Yom Tov of Purim was established on the day after the Jews finished killing their enemies in Persia.
These are our babies. It’s crushing our hearts. What is a real plan to fix this? “The Jewish people have been decreed to suffer Divine concealment. Thus, if a person expects not to experience Divine concealment, this is a sign that he is not of Jewish origin. (Chagigah 5a)” I feel like Hashem made it very simple so that any Yid could comprehend: “When we are observant of the Mitzvos, our enemies will be vanquished and we will live in peace (paraphrased).” While I’m pretty sure, that was the prescription before exile, I think the same applies for how to… Read more »
Do you think to justify why such a horrible thing happened? We don’t know the ways of Hashem and le us leave it at that. To put blame without the slightest clue why this is happening is just plainly wrong,
Such accusations just bring ,more Sinas chinam, more divideness btwn jews!
