Is Being ‘Gezhe’ Worth Much?
Stump the Rabbi: Is there an advantage to being ‘gezhe’ (of respected genealogy, or yichus) and did the Rebbe ever address the concept? Video

Gezhe is extremely important, especially when it comes to choosing a spouse for your children. Without gezhe, how can you expect your very strict Pesach family minhagim to pass on?! Perhaps if they’re very affluent, then the importance of Gezhe can be up for debate, since we all know that the strictest pesach’s happen on lavish cruises.

I am very proud to be a BT for more than 50 years and trust me the supposed children with yichus that I have met have definitely not lived up to past generation standards. My yichus comes before me not behind me. Some of the untznius women I’ve met come from so called yichus. Give me a B T any time
They do have many privileges
In out of town schools they pay less tuition even they have money
They can get better connections to get to a seminary , camp , etc
Unfortunately, many attitudes and actions that people came up with have nothing to do with what the Rebbe said and wanted from us but rather their own shtik or from outside influences.
Heard from a great man: Yichus is like a carrot, the good parts are buried underground!
yichus doesn’t mean anything unless you live up to your ancestors. Honestly, more BT are much more frum than people from ”yichus”. It;s what you make of yourself.
