Dr. Irving (Yehoshua Elchonon) Fishman, a founding member and pillar of the Chabad community in Houston, TX, a father, grandfather and great grandfather to a large Lubavitch family, passed away on Sunday morning, 1 Tammuz, 5784.
He was 78.
Dr. Fishman was born in a DP camp in Austria after his parents survived the war. He graduated from McGill University Faculty of Medicine and was a world renowned physician who helped thousands of people. He assisted in making Brisim for many Russian immigrants and others.
He is survived by his wife, Miriam, and children, Danny Fishman – Houston, TX, Naomi Kotlarsky – Boca Raton, FL, David Fishman – Houston, TX, Rivki Levin – Montreal, Chani Gavin – Houston, TX, Avrami Fishman – Houston, TX, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
The Levaya will pass by Chabad Lubavitch Center of Houston, 10900 Fondren Road, at 2:30 pm.
Burial at Beth Jacob Cemetery, 2300 Almeda Genoa Rd, Houston, TX 77047, at 3:00 pm
Shiva will be through Friday afternoon at 7847 Portal Drive, Houston, TX. 77071.

I remember the Fishman’s from when we were CGI counselors back about 40 years ago – the kids were little and Dr. and Mrs. Fishman used to invite us counselors over Friday night. They also bought beautiful and fun gifts for us – one of which I still have. יהי זכרו ברוך
