The Chief Rabbi of Iran, Rabbi Yehuda Gerami visited Ohelei Torah Yeshiva in Crown Heights last Thursday the 24th of Mar-cheshvan.
Rabbi Gerami was in New York to attend the International Kinus Hashluchim on a visit coordinated by Merkos 302.
During the visit, he met with Mashpia Rabbi Nachman Shapiro and discussed with him the Rebbe’s explanation in Likkutei sichos about the life of Sarah. Rabbi Nachman Shapiro told Rabbi Gerami about the activities of the Tzivos Hashem organization which was founded by the Rebbe. Rabbi Nachman Shapiro was happy to hear about the development of the Jewish community in Iran.
Rabbi Gerami also met with Rabbi Moshe Teitelbaum, as well as Rabbi Eidelman (born in Morocco) for a cordial conversation.
The Chief Rabbi met with the temimim David Atias, Mendel Zaltzman, Mendi Schiff and Shneor Zalman Halperin. He discussed with them the laws of tzedakah at night and also the laws of basar vechalav.
The rabbi was positively impressed by the activities of the temimim, Mendi Schiff and Yerucham Eingman as part of the special camp for the children of shluchim that was held at the same time as the kinus hashluchim gathering.
The temimim asked to hear a shiur from Rabbi Gerami he responded positively and promised that before he returns to Iran he will give a lesson at the yeshiva.
