A colorful mobile mural created three years ago promoting inclusion is coming to life in an all new way, with an exciting contest being held in conjunction with ShabbaTTogether, taking place worldwide in February and March.
#WeAllBelong was created by artist Yitzchok Moully depicting the soul-level connection shared by every person, despite their different appearances and abilities.
Originally displayed outside the Jewish Children’s Museum in Brooklyn, NY, the mural has traveled across the United States and its message has also resonated melodically throughout the world as a highly popular 8th Day music video by the same name.
Taking the concept of belonging to a new level this year, ShabbaTTogether is giving individuals at home an opportunity to put their own spin on #WeAllBelong, with an @Home Mural social media art contest.
“This is an opportunity for everyone to celebrate JDAIM, Jewish Disability Awareness and Inclusion Month, in their home,” said Dr. Sarah Kranz-Ciment, director of the Ruderman Chabad Inclusion Initiative, which runs the annual program. “People can print out the mural, color it and hang it on their wall, in addition to sharing a picture of their completed designs on social media with the contest hashtags #ShabbaTTogether and #WeAllBelong.”
More than just an opportunity to dabble in color and art, contest creators are emphasizing the important messages inherent in the @Home Mural contest. Entrants are encouraged to blend their colors in the areas where letters overlap to signify the energy created when two people come together and to show the special glow of the soul, the universal element that connects us all even when we may appear physically different. The ready-to-color mural can be printed as a single 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper or in ten separate sections to create a larger design. Click here to download and share your ready-to-color mural today.
The contest runs through February 28th, with three winners to be chosen on March 1st. Each one will receive a canvas print of the original #WeAllBelong mural signed by Moully.
“In the current climate it is wonderful that the Ruderman Chabad Inclusion Initiative found a way to bring engagement to the home and awareness of this incredible project,” said Moully. “I am excited to see this illustration based on the #WeAllBelong mural shared across the world to spread the message of unity even further.”
