On Tuesday night, May 15, Chabad at the University of Illinois held its annual gala celebration event, highlighting Chabad’s work on Campus.
Nearly 400 people came together at the Bryn Mawr Country Club to celebrate the work of Chabad at the University and honor alumni Phillip and Beverly Goldstick.
Also honored were a group of students who dedicate their time to being on the Chabad Leadership Board, putting in long hours to create a vibrant Jewish life on campus.
Speakers included Head Shliach to Illinois Rabbi Daniel Moscowitz and Rabbi Yossy Gordon – Executive Director of the Chabad on Campus International Foundation.
Special guests included the University’s President Designate, Robert A. Easter Ph.D., and University of Illinois head football coach Tim Beckman.
Since its founding by Rabbi Dovid and Goldie Tiechtel, Illini Chabad has grown to a huge center with over 1500 students involved their many programs and activities. Over 100 students attend Friday night dinner each week, and they have created a full Kosher meal program in the dorms, among many other programs.
