Roses are red
Violets are blue
Water is cool.
Blood is warm.
Ha. Unexpected.
Well, as you know;
The first plague that Hashem struck upon Egypt
was turning it’s deity the Nile river
-Egypt’s water source-
to blood.
Cool water to warm blood.
Interesting. …
The nile was red
And no longer blue
And now we move on
To plague number 2
Cheesy, but at least this time
it rhymed. … And for all those of you thinking “water is clear” cut me some slack please. 😉
The 2nd plague was the frogs.
Swarms of these cold blooded reptiles came across the land.
They went everywhere.
ALL OVER.
They even went against their nature of staying near cool water and jumped into the ovens of the egyptians.
Cold blooded amphibians into heated ovens.
Interesting.
Lets see,
In plague number one
Hashem brought warmth to something cold.
On a deeper level, this is a timeless message to us to replace any cold apathy toward Holiness with warmth, life, and enthusiasm.
Yeah, it’s hard and you gotta learn a little to do that, but it’s not cool to be cool about Truth.
Be passionate alive and warm.
And hey, if our passion lies in some other things,
Like, I don’t know, Egyptian made artisanal bread…
Just kidding! I know how attached we are to our sourdough.
But actually yeah, let’s use this very subtle analogy;
If i’m so filled with passion for nice, hot, -crispy on the outside and oh so soft in the inside- sourdough bread (not talking about challah for shabbos of course ;)) it’s inappropriate.
It’s simply stealing some of my heart that should be devoted to G-d, and giving it to bread.
And we’re better than that.
G-d vs. Bread? Really?
Kinda lame.
…Okay admittedly my fault for using this bread example and not going with like, social status, fancy cars, netflix, youtube or something… But anyways,
In plague #2
Those cold little amphibians hopping into the ovens of the Egyptians demonstrates a similar but slightly different message than the first plague:
If you realize that you are placing alot of your energy, passion, and vitality, into things that are not holy; you gotta chill out.
This time it is actually cool to be cool.
To use a funny liberal term slightly more conservatively:
“Chassidish but with it.”
Just to make this more mainstream, lets call it
Jewish but with it.
But,
…with WHAT?
With chill, I’m assuming.
Ah.
So passionate about truth; warm, alive and energetic when it comes to Holiness and a chiller when it comes to things that are mundane.
Gotcha. Now I understand why this is high praise.
It’s Moshiach Mode!
Turn on your Moshiach Mode. Live with more warmth and love for, passionately learn more Torah, and enthusiastically do yet another Mitzvah, and of course energetically, joyously, celebrate the imminent redemption.
I don’t know about you, but I really want to be Chassidish but with it.
As we were redeemed then from Egypt with great miracles- we will be redeemed sooner than we think now with even greater miracles and wonders. Show G-d that your ready by living in Moshiach Mode and be sure to speak to G-d as well. Demand verbally that it be immediately- now!
Thank you for this gem
Great pic!
