Hundreds of Hatzalah members from throughout the New York area have been streaming into Central Hatzalah Headquarters in Flatbush, Brooklyn, to inscribe the final letters in the Hatzalah Unity Torah this week.
On Sunday, many Hatzalah members arrived as well, even from other states – as far a Chicago – to have the opportunity to inscribe a letter in the Torah which is uniting Jewish people around the world.
“There was a lot of excitement in the air, as many volunteers were reunited after not seeing each other for many years,” said Rabbi Beryl Junik, one of the coordinators of the Hatzalah-thon event. “There is great anticipation for the live event on Thursday, and everyone is talking about the fundraiser and following the total on the website, which keeps on growing,” he said.
