Hundreds of London Anash gathered for the grand Siyum Harambam and Melava Malka which was held at the Yeshiva Ketana.
All of the local Chabad Shuls, including Anash from Golders Green, Stamford Hill, and Hendon, joined together for this special occasion, thus creating a beautiful atmosphere of unity, and a tremendous feeling of the importance of learning Rambam.
Chaired by Rabbi Nissan Dovid Dubov, Shliach in Wimbledon, the event began with an address by Rabbi Elchonon Halperin, who made a special appearance in honour of the Siyum.
The Rebbe’s Kapitel was lead by the Mashpia, Rabbi Mendel Gordon, and a special video of the Rebbe on the topic of Rambam was shown. Music was played by Hatamim Levi Ehrentrei, Shliach in Yeshiva Ketana.
The Siyum of the 30th cycle was made by the Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshiva Gedolah and Rav of Chabad of Northwest London, Rabbi Yitzchok Meir Hertz, who then went on to explain some points of the Rambam based on a Sicha of the Rebbe.
This was followed by the beginning of the new cycle, by the Head Shliach of the U.K, Rabbi Nachman Sudak, who spoke about the beginning of the Sefer, and encouraged everyone to continue learning Rambam with an even greater Chayus.
The evening was graced with a unique insight into the learning of Rambam, given by the guest speaker, Rabbi Eliyahu Touger from Yerushalayim. Having translated the Rambam into English, Rabbi Touger in intimately familiar with all the intricacies of the Rambam, and showed from a fascinating angle how all of the Sefer ties into the Rambam’s Hakdama, which he described as essentially the mission statement of the Rambam’s magnum opus.
In addition to enjoying a delicious Melava Malka, each guest was presented with the next two editions of the weekly Chayenu publication, which contain Rabbi Touger’s translation for the first two weeks of the new cycle.
After the Siyum, Bochurim, Anash, and Shluchim sat down for a Farbrengen with Rabbi Touger, who was joined by Rabbi Yosef Yitzchok Wilschansky, Rosh Yeshiva in Tzfas, who came to London for a Simcha.
The event was organised by the Talmidim Hashluchim of Yeshiva Gedola.
