On the evening of December 7th, the first night of Chanukah, hundreds of people gathered at Rabbi Jacob J. Hecht’s Memorial Menorah, also known as the ‘Official Brooklyn Menorah’ in front of Kings County Supreme Court which is sponsored and organized by Chabad of Brooklyn Heights.
Jewish music star Gad Elbaz performed for all those who attended. He sang inspirational songs like “Jerusalem of Gold” to uplift the Jewish community of downtown Brooklyn and beyond and bring light in the dark times.
Rabbi Aaron Raskin, who heads Chabad of Brooklyn Heights, says that “this crowd was the largest ever!”
Steve C. said, “coming out here, and celebrating Chanukah in public, is us telling the world – Am Yisroel Chai”!
Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso was also present at this lighting. He spoke about Brooklyn having the largest Jewish community outside of Israel and his dedication to ensuring the safety and success of the Jewish community.
