It’s Rabbi Abraham Wolf from Odessa, Ukraine. I deeply appreciate and thank you for the time you invest in reading my message.
There’s no need to describe the suffering our community has endured during the long-lasting and unpredictable war. Since the beginning of the conflict, I’ve stayed here with the community to assist the elderly and the sick who couldn’t leave, while my beloved wife remained in Germany, caring for hundreds of orphans from our orphanage until financial constraints forced her return. Recently, in the brief respite created just a few months ago, we brought all the orphans back, hoping the war would end soon so we could mend the shattered pieces of our community.
Regrettably, the opposite happened. A few days after our return, we experienced a brutal missile attack on Odessa that hit a building adjacent to ours. The fear in the children was unbearable, and we huddled together in the underground parking of our building.
Since then, the attacks on our city have not ceased, with missiles striking our infrastructure almost daily. The situation here is extremely challenging. Amidst this chaos, we continue to do our best to sustain the community and the orphanage and carry on with life as normally as possible. We must hold our ground.
Aside from the precious monthly support for the orphans and the community, as the holidays approach and winter sets in, we urgently need a significant amount of funds to purchase holiday necessities for the community and acquire solar generators, heaters, blankets, coats, and winter supplies.
