Thousands came out to The Grove Los Angeles for a night of light, joy and Jewish pride at Village Synagogue x The Grove Menorah Lighting on the third night of Chanukah.
The unforgettable night included a performance from Nissim Black, remarks from Rick Caruso, MP Katy Yeruslavsky, Israeli Consul General – Hillel Newman and Rabbi Zalmy Fogelman of Village Synagogue. There were guest appearances from Josh Peck and tik tok star, Montana Tucker who lit the menorah together with Holocaust Survivor, Joseph Alexander in honor of his 100th birthday.
In his remarks, Caruso thanked the Jewish community for the joy and light that they bring to The Grove. Thousands in the crowd sang happy birthday to Joe Alexander a survivor of 13 concentration camps. Mr Alexander lit the shamash candle to applause and cheers from the crowd and passed on the light of generations to Montana Tucker to light the first candle.
“From the Maccabees to Joseph to Montana to each one of us here tonight, we are part of the story of spiritual survival. Today we are charged to stand up for truth in the face of those trying to diminish it. Today we demonstrate the power of faith and the miracles it can spark”, Rabbi Fogelman said in his remarks.
The evening concluded with the crowd dancing to DJ Huda and the Grove’s magical snowfall.
