Hi Boys and Girls! Welcome back to “History’s Heroes” Where we learn about our favorite Jewish Heroes and craft, paint, or experiment, along the way!
Highlight: Batya
Batya means “daughter of Hashem.” About her, Hashem said, “Moshe was not your son, but you called him your son. You, too, are not My daughter, but I call you My daughter.” Batya was one of the seven people who entered Gan Eden alive. Because Batya saved Moshe from the Nilus, Hashem declared, “Since she brought salvation to the Jewish people and led them to life, I will grant her a prolonged life.” (Source: Kalla Rabbati, end of Chapter 3) There are four chambers in Gan Eden, each presided over by a righteous woman: Batya, Serach, Yocheved, and Devorah. In one chamber, Batya, joined by thousands of women, enjoys the pleasures of Gan Eden and learns Torah. Three times a day, an announcement is made that the likeness of Moshe, the greatest Navi (prophet), is arriving. Each time, Batya goes out, observes his likeness, and bows, saying, “Happy is my portion that I raised such a light!”
When Batya came down to the Nilus River and saw Moshe in the basket, Hashem miraculously stretched her arm out to bring Moshe closer. Get your canvas ready as we teach you step-by-step how to draw the river scene that Batya saw before saving Moshe. We will guide you through mixing different paint colors to create new hues, sketching the painting, and learning how to create dynamic elements through layering techniques to achieve shading.
