R’ Hershel Basher, a longtime beloved and active community member of Beis Menachem Chabad of North Miami Beach, passed away on Shabbos, 22 Av, 5781.
He was 54.
Hershel was the epitome of a family man, par excellence. We cannot possibly do justice to the love and devotion we all saw him show his beloved wife, Josephine, and his precious children. Hershel would do anything for his family.
The day before Hershel left this world, he was delivering food his dear wife Josephine had baked to two Sholom Zochors, as well as to a Shabbos Kallah and to several new families in the neighborhood. This was typical Hershel; quietly delivering goodies and celebrating other people’s big moments.
“No words are suitable to express the dizzying shock, heartbreak, and pain that we all are feeling now with the tragic news of the loss of this truly wonderful man; a mentsch of the highest order,” a community member said.
He is survived by his wife Josephine and seven young children, Rena, Chava, Rivka, Ari, Penina, Menachem Mendel and Mordechai.
To know the Basher family is to know what it means to give. The hundreds of mealtrains, Chessed, and constant support they have provided for so long, is beyond any level of comprehension. It is now our turn, as the community at large, to express our enormous appreciation to the R’ Hershel A”H and ensure financial stability for his special family who have always been there for others. NOW IT IS TIME FOR US TO BE THERE FOR THEM!

Baruch dayan Ha’emes.
spent many a shabbos meals at his table, today there are tears on my table.
Very Kind Hearted he’ll be greatly missed
They helped hundreds of people. All the time there kitchen was open. To feed the hospital people the needy and those who had children. Please help them. This is real and the vaad of people running this can attest to the need
If you look at all of grown up Chabad children who were born in NMB, including my own, you should know that when those children were born, we as parents NEVER had to worry about how our families would have supper for the next 2 weeks, including shabbos (and shalom zachors) because the Bashers always took care of that for us.
Just one of the many chessed acts of the Basher family.
Please give generously!!!
I grew up in North Miami Beach, one of my earliest memories of Herschel z’l was when they hosted one of the first moshiach seudas in NMb some 28? Years ago. Herschel always had a smile on his face, in fact, in my entire life, I never once saw Herschel get mad. His and his wife’s struggles to have kids, for years, was known. Bh the good Lord finally blessed them with many kids and Herschel and family looked forward to many happy years. God had other plans and today a family and community grieves.
