The wish for every young couple as they start to build their family is to build a בית נאמן בישראל. But for one family, that dream has come with tremendous obstacles and hardships. Blessed with six children, three of whom have neurological and genetic disorders and two of whom have behavioral issues, the family’s life is a constant string of doctors appointments, intense therapies, and medical interventions. And as Shluchim in a small town in Israel, they balance their children’s unremitting medical issues with their unbroken dedication to providing a support system in the community. They do this with a full heart, never complaining, and instead, focusing on simcha and unwavering bitachon in Hashem.
But now they need our support. Raising children with varying degrees of disabilities, the family requires vital modifications to their home that allow for wheelchair accessibility and safety. This is more than needing just entry ramps. The neurological and developmental challenges affecting the children have compromised their balance and gait. Bathrooms and hallways need to be modified to allow for safety; lifts need to be installed to assist with bathing and other basic needs. These modifications are critical, but with the family’s overwhelming medical bills, they have not been able to consider the expenses that the home renovation requires.
