Dear Neighbor,
Throwing support behind a political campaign can often be a very complicated matter. This is not the case, however, when the candidate is also a trusted personal friend. We gladly give our support to our family friend and longtime friend of the Crown Heights Jewish community, David Weprin, as he campaigns to become the next New York City Comptroller. The Comptroller plays one of the most impactful roles in the city, with oversight of New York’s finances and the hundreds of billions of dollars that flow through its economy.
David’s experience as a New York city and state public servant goes back decades. He was a friend and supporter of our father, Rabbi Jacob J. Hecht, obm, and served as a board member of the NCFJE for many years. While serving as a representative in the City Council and the State Assembly, David faithfully represented the needs of the Jewish community and, through thick and thin, has always been an unshakable ally of Israel.
The effects of the Coronavirus were felt throughout our city and community, and the economic consequences are far-reaching and still not entirely understood. As we start rebuilding a post-pandemic New York City, David Weprin is absolutely the individual our community need at the helm of its economy.
We enthusiastically support David Weprin for Comptroller.
Sincerely,
Rabbi Sholem B. Hecht, Rabbi Shea Hecht, Rabbi Shimon Hecht
