A makeshift charity box, a white carton box with masking tape, was placed in the main shul of 770 Eastern Parkway on Friday morning.
“The authorities closed the Yeshiva’s kitchen,” the sign is Hebrew reads. “You can participate with meals for the Tmimim in this moneybox.”
New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene has closed the kitchen in the dormitory at 1414 President Street in Crown Heights this week, run by United Lubavitcher Yeshiva.
A spokesman for the Department was not available for comment.
A source in the Yeshiva, who asked not to be named, said “the inspectors found some cleanliness issues they didn’t like.”
“There was nothing major. Any little thing is a violation, so we are cleaning up and doing whatever they want,” the person told COLlive.com.
“You need to understand, from their point of view a fly is technically more dangerous than a cockroach, since it carries wetness from one piece of food to another. Although most people get more disgusted from a cockroach.”
Asked about the charity box in 770, a member of the Yeshiva’s hanhala said “we didn’t put it there and it has no connection to us. It must be some bochurim who want money to eat at a restaurant.”
The 1414 kitchen is expected to reopen on Tuesday, July 24. Until then, meals are being served in the Getzel’s Shul on Kingston Avenue and residents were seen inviting bochurim to their homes for meals.
In my yeshiva days if we were caught in a restaurant we would get a cheilek and have farbreingens where we would be put in our place…
Oy how low have we fallen?

B’meileh Chinese which comes from China, and there was a tomchei tmimim in shanghai, which forsure served chinese food.
But whoever heard of tmimim eating Sushi?

I was aproached by a moshiachist bochur i gave him 25 dollars on the stipulation he take his chevrusa and two non moshichist bochrim I told him on the tnai they become friends this was before the getzel shul was set up I hope this isthe way to increase ahavas yisroel and Im oposed to moshiachist dogma but bochrim need to eat anyone who knows me formaly from chicago knows I am oposed to them but we must have ahavas chinom and hope they do tshuva and stop embarassing everything the Rebbe Z”l stood for
I have been there multiple times, and i can safely say that is gross exaggeration. Its not like that at all. yes, its not a five star kitchen, but its very doable and better looking than many restaurant kitchens. For the records, do you recall 1414’s old kitchen? 😉

Dont be fooled by the CON Artists who want to make a quick & easy $$$ .BH The kitchen staff is preparing the Bochrim-Tmimim all their Yeshiva Meals , They are getting 3 meals a day in Getzels Shul which is in the yeshiva bulding.Bezras Hashem They will have Shabbos Dinners complete with fresh made Salads & fresh fruit for dessert..Come in and see for yourself seeing is believing

Having seen this kitchen on multiple occasions I am incredibly thankful that it has been closed down. For the sake of those eating the food prepared there this kitchen needs to be cleaned. How anybody can allow their kitchen to get as dirty as this one was in beyond logic. If you run a kitchen or any operation you are responsible for cleanliness and maintenance.
who is paying for the food at getzel’s shul?

i was worried for a moment when i saw that sign with yechi on the bottom. as i contribute to 1414…but was relived to see that some tzvati made his own sign to eat in mendys ect…
If that’s the case, that they are eating at Getzel’s Shul why are they collecting money?
Amazed it was kept open till now and no bochurim were harmed from eating the food.
