Message from the Crown Heights Beis Din Secretariat:
During the time when the funeral of the Rov and member of the Beis Din Rabbi Ahron Yaakov Schwei obm passes through Crown Heights, it is proper that Crown Heights residents שי’, who are to remain home (as per current health regulations), should refrain from Melacha, business activities, throughout that time.
This is on behalf of the Rabbonim of the Beis Din.
May we be zoche to eternal life with the coming of Moshiach now.
Important Guidelines for a Levaya from the Chevra Kadisha:
Due to the current situation, we have to bring to the attention of the public שי’ the current guidelines that must be adhered to.
1. At 770 and any other stop in Crown Heights, there is no need to go over to the Aron to ask for Mechila. It can be done from far away; a porch, a front door etc. Coming too close can cause risk to multiple individuals. At no time may anyone gather around the car of the niftar/es. No one may come within 10 feet of the car. These stops will last for one minute only and the back door of the car will not be opened.
2. At the cemetery, only up to 10 men will be allowed, including the Aveilim. If female Aveilos are present, there may only be up to 10 women, including the Aveilos. . Please maintain social distance and stand at least 6 feet apart at all times as the world is watching, if pictures are made, we would like it to be a Kiddush HASHEM and a zechus for the niftar.
3. Unless it is for an immediate relative, there should be no FaceTiming of Levayos. It is a Bizayon for the Niftar and -Lehavdil- the living (unless it’s strictly for family). Obviously, these are not to be recorded or forwarded.

Rabbi Schwei OB”M was my Rebbi in ULY in the 70s. He had so much patients. He repeated the Gemara over and over again the third or fourth time as slow aidel and with clarity as the first time. Before that, Rabbi Schwei was Camp Rebbi in CGI Montreal where he taught me the Bar Mitzvah Maamor and Haftorah Trup. Besides all..Rabbi Schwei had a great talent in art. I remember as a young camper watching Rabbi Schwei in amazement drawing those beautiful banners with the portraits of the Rabbeim and much more with such perfection. Those banners adored the… Read more »
Rabbi schwei was not only a rov who paskened shalos but a person who people felt comfortable to pour out their hearts and troubles secrets. He helped many with his soft spoken fatherly advice. He should be a mailitz yosher for klal yisroel to bring moshiach and specifically for our community
