Australian businessman and activist Rabbi Yosef Gutnick, who has not hesitated to take a stand in Israel’s political affairs, is currently visiting the country as it holds general elections next Tuesday.
One of his reported activities was to visit the Gush Katif Museum in Jerusalem which documents the prosperous Jewish life in the Gaza strip until the 2005 expulsion.
Gutnick, who claims the title Shliach for matters pertaining to Eretz Yisrael, was welcomed by the museum’s curator Shlomo Verstil and Rabbi Shalom Ber Wolpo, an activist for Israel’s safety.
During a tour that lasted for 3 hours, Gutnick was thanked for his years of support of the Jewish communities in Chevron and the areas of Judea and Samaria.
While he spent millions of dollars campaigning for Benjamin Netanyahu and against the Labor Party in 1996, Gutnick has not been involved in this cycle, and has not indicated whether he will.
Netanyahu’s Premiership is secure, although his Likud party has been losing seats to competing right-wing parties such as Habayit Hayehudi and Otzman LeYisrael, both enjoying support among the Chabad community.
Rabbi Gutnick was not available for comment.
Problem is that S.B. Volpo did for Gush Katif what others should have done.
We have abandoned and forgotten the Gush Katif residents
What do you care? Let them both do their thing
