A nationwide campaign urging Israeli citizens to vote for right-wing and religious parties has helped end the political limbo that Israel has been embroiled in recent years.
The campaign “Choose Life” was funded by Australian businessman and philanthropist Rabbi Yosef Gutnick who took up temporary residence in Jerusalem ahead of the national legislative election this past Tuesday, November 1.
His print and digital ads in both Hebrew and English called on Israelis to vote for parties that oppose the establishment of a Palestinian state and won’t give away territories of the holy land of Israel.
“This coming Tuesday, we must tip the balance of the election and vote for life – of security, tradition, and unity,” the ads in both Hebrew and English read. “After this past year, we cannot afford to stay home. Everyone must go out and vote!”
The results were a stunning and clear win for the bloc led by Likud leader and former prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Calling the win a “knockout,” The Times of Israel reported that “Turnout was up overall, but especially for Netanyahu’s bloc, and most of all among Haredim.”
Gutnick, who financed Netanyahu’s initial improbable rise to power in 1996 and holds the title of “Emissary of the Lubavitcher Rebbe for the integrity of the Holy Land,” celebrated the results.
“What happened here was a very great victory, Baruch Hashem,” he told COLlive.com. “Our campaign was a uniting one that every Jew and Israeli can connect to – with an emphasis on the things that the Rebbe cared about, chief among them Pikuach Nefesh.”
According to statistics he received, the campaign he funded reached millions of people during the last week before the election.
Ahead of the elections, he met with key political players to strategize the days ahead. Among them were Netanyahu, Likud member and former Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat, and Otzma Yehudit party chairman Itamar Ben Gvir.
Gutnick called on Netanyahu to form a government that would be able to deliver on those promises. “We hope that the government that will be created will be narrow and right-wing, as the Rebbe wanted.”

They need to change in order to reflect the values of the Rebbe which is to include all Jews with ahavas yisroel
So many non-religious Jews and Palestinians who are going to be hurt by this new extremist government. The world is turning to fascism including the Jewish state and it is a real chillul Hashem. The Israeli gov is no better than right wing extremists here in America
Agree with you 100%!
Can’t feel too sorry for people who want to kill us and take us away from shlemus haaretz. That doesn’t mean there aren’t any problems with the elected government but the previous one was much worse
Judaism at its finest! Don’t have compassion for others. Well said. Please remind me which Rav preached this amazing idea.
Means the merger of the state and private companies. You know, like the government and Twitter colluding to suppress news harmful to the ruling party. It doesn’t mean “people whom I don’t like.”
Are you that influenced by the media?
It is reported that after the election pres hertzog asked gantz and lapid to join and make a unity govt and they refused.
Also meretz didnt join labor and as a result labor only got 4 seats and meretz didnt pass the threshhold.
Also balad split from the joint list arabs and didnt pass the threshhold
All this gave a victory to the right wing
For the 1st time there are no bedouin arabs represented in the knesset after they took over in the last govt
Truly must thank hashem for miracles
BS”D Mr. Netanyahu was a huge disappointment in 1997 after he gave away Hebron in the Agreement called the “Hebron Accords”. Then after he was elected again in 2008, he couldn’t stop talking about restarting the stalled Peace Talks. This culminated in his visiting Washington and right after the “Green Line” reappeared on the map. Mr. Netanyahu has never hidden his pro-peace position. He ran against Mr. Sharon in 2003 on a Pro-Peace Platform. He has never done anything otherwise! When Mr. Shamir only talked about making peace talks? The Rebbe told Mr. Katzov in 770, “I put Mr. Shamir… Read more »
Bibi is totally under the control of the religious parties now. No way can he make peace treaties and divide israel or he loses his coalition. He was never totally under the control of the religious parties before. I agree with you that bibi was ready to divide israel. He had a map made by jared kushner to divide israel. Thats why both he and trump were booted from office by heaven. Now he is under the control of the religious parties. Also no bedouin reps in the knesset for the 1st time when they were in control with their… Read more »
why not make Jews appear even worse and elect a fascist dictator pushing an extremist religious agenda
Let us know when there is one. Because right now there’s no such thing – unless, that is, you think that anyone who’s not a communist (that is, an adherent of an ideology with a body count of 100 million) is a fascist.
Vote for Moshiach…we still need that in Israel
These “religious” men celebrate the death of Palestinians and we’re electing them as representatives of the jewish state? Is this what Judaism has become? Men wearing yarmulkes who chant “death to Palestine”? It’s horrific and I have never felt so let down by my community.
You’re making up nonsense never happened no one ever celebrated any death of any Palestinian (what does Palestinian even mean) non terrorist and the thing is that these people are fighting for is self defense and that is a Torah value of הבא להרגך השכם להורגו so what’s wrong with “electing them as representatives of the jewish state” oh and non of these people you are talking about ever chanted death to Palestine and you now why because there is no such thing as Palestine and you say that you “have never felt so let down by my community” maybe… Read more »
