The Russian town of Lubavitch hosted a group of guests on Shabbos Parshas Yisro, providing them with accommodations at the longtime home of Chabad Rebbes and the Chabad-Lubavitch movement.
Rabbi Gavriel Gordon, who oversees Jewish activities in the town, coordinated the Shabbos which included davening, meals, farbrengens and visiting the Ohel of the Tzemach Tzedek and Rebbe Maharash.
Among the guests were the legendary Shliach Rabbi Yitzchak Kogan who heads the Bolshaya Bronnaya Synagogue in Moscow. Joining him were students of his Yeshiva Machon Haran in Moscow and their Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Segev Friedman, as well as Shliach Rabbi Zalman Shimon Deren of Moscow.
A noted presence was that of Lev Leviev, the businessman and philanthropist who helped revive Jewish life in the former Soviet Union since the fall of Communism. He arrived with his son-in-law Dovid Eliezerov and other family members.
Farbrengens throughout Shabbos marked the yartzeit of Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka Schneerson OBM, wife of the Rebbe, and of the tzadik R’ Yisachar Bar of Lubavitch, the teacher of the Alter Rebbe and rov of the town.
