single parents too!

give mentorship to single mothers! (and fathers), is this only for men? there should be a class for ladies, they can be great at business

G-d is the decider of wealth!
May 30, 2012 3:29 am

And the mazel comes from the wife! She is the recipient of the brochos by keeping Taharas mishpacha. The one other thing that makes her a recipient of brochos that equals to mikvah, is covering her hair with a shaitel. (as told to us by the rebbe) . so to all the men who are looking for wealth, Treat your wife with great respect and buy her beautiful shaitelach!

To all the poor folks

Money is not the only definition of success! it can buy you beautiful homes and makes you popular when it’s time for shudduchim, but being happy with what you have, does not come from money. It comes from you! To be happy and to raise a generation of ehrliche people is success! Being rich and raising a bunch of spoiled children, who travel all over the world, and nothing is good enough for them, is a very limited success!

Watch your back
May 29, 2012 12:48 pm

Every time I have tried to help a fellow “Chabad” entrepreneur, or even to give a Lubavitcher a job or a contract, the results have been the opposite of good.

I wish these Chassidim luck, but as one of the quiet successful ones, I will not be joining them. I will build my own business, give maaser, and watch my back very carefully if I decide to deal with another supposed “Chassidish brother.”

Simple answer to # 31
May 25, 2012 4:25 pm

If every young entrepreneur in Crown Heights achieved the success (income) of the guys in the picture, then R. Werde’s organization would be wildly successful.

PS
YOUR advice in your post is sound and is worth listening to. That’s what advice is. Good input. That’s it. It’s not exact instructions and it’s not a “trick”. As you point out, everyone starting a business should do their own research, put in the consistent effort, show up, show others respect and self respect etc. But there is no substitute to learning from someone who has been there many times before.

Let's talk about what matters.
May 25, 2012 3:56 pm

Can we veer away from this “beard” talk, which is clearly divisive and polarizing – and instead focus on ideas to help the youth of our community?

No beard = business success?
May 25, 2012 2:57 pm

What does beards have to do with this? Does anyone really suggest that not having a beard is a key to success? There are very successful businessmen (focusing on men cuz we’re talking beards here:) with beards and many without beards. Is there any beardless successful businessman out there who believes he would have less success if he had a beard? I doubt it. He cuts/trims his beard because he WANTS to. Not because he NEEDS to!!!

The beard issue has nothing to do with business. It’s a broader Lubavitch issue.

to beard or not to beard
May 25, 2012 2:41 pm

unfortunately, everything gets polarized by the superficial exhibitionism of appearance and man-to-god rituals, instead of character and man-to-man behavior. So, in line with that ugly reality, this group should include younger and clean-shaven folks as well, so that as many people – regardless of who hey associate with, could benefit from this effort.

as to a previous commentor – what about women. Pffft. Don’t you know? Women belong in the house. (and men grow beards)..

just wondering
May 25, 2012 2:36 pm

what makes someone “successful” enough that their advice is worth listening to or modeling?

of course the desire and willingness to help another is in itself nice, but anyone learning about anything should research the depth and accuracy of info. neither a beard nor unsubstantiated claims of success and wealth make a universal truth. And finally, luck/mazel, consistent effort, showing up, showing others respect and self respect are more important than “tricks”

disclaimer – from what i know of these people, they are nice, so this post is not critical of them.

#27, why so divisive?
May 25, 2012 1:30 pm

The Rebbe said any person who learns chassidus and considers him their Rebbe, they’re a chassid. He even encouraged people to keep minhagim and levush. It is time Lubavitchers start waking up to the reality–They’re too wrapped up in “Club Lubavitch” to see the messages. How can one love fellow Jews if “being Lubvitch” is #1 priority? How can one fulfill the directives of the Rebbe if one can only judge inside over shechita and trivial matters. Ikkur is vahavta lereacha camocha. Toifel is what minhag you are. Donations btw are what supports the Lubavitch system. Shluchim hit it big… Read more »

making money
May 25, 2012 11:41 am

Exactly I have a friend who made more than 4 million in the last 6 years, from scratch (bad economy),and never was mentioned in COL

May 25, 2012 10:06 am

well said, there are many people who make alot more money then those mentioned but dont post themselves online everyday which means they are more modest then those who do

to # 12
May 25, 2012 10:00 am

giving money to chabad does not make you chabad.
# 1 in chabad is to be frum, and after you are frum you can choose to be chabad.
and there are pleanty of young rich people in CH with beards that are doing alot better then 1saleaday & daily steals they just dont post themselves online every time they give $1000 to tzedaka

nice pic!

You want our schools to provide the tools for students who want to go into business or enter into the professional field. We have to ask ourselves the question? Are students coming out of the system firstly yirei shomayim, with a love of yiddishkeit and with a chassidish fire in their belly to make a difference. If the answer is yes, I truly believe that whether they choose to go on shlichus or go into the business world, they will be successful. The Rebbe did not advocate “learn to earn”, until after marriage. HOWEVER, if the boys cannot read and… Read more »

BEARDS, BEARDS, BEARDS
May 25, 2012 12:29 am

To # 12 …. The example that these men set for our youth is extremely valuable and commendable. Their untrimmed beards are very important. The Tzemach Tzedek and all the Rebbes held that touching the beard in any way is against halacha. Therefore, these fine men are proof that one need not compromise to gain financial success. The opposite is true. Their beards bring them the brochos that the 13 middos hoRachamim draw down.

I really hope you don’t have a problem with this.

Cool but...
May 24, 2012 11:51 pm

Is this available to women as well?

beardless in bombay
May 24, 2012 10:45 pm

so tired of the croakers and lowlifes mentioning beard this no beard that – this beuatiful post is about a bunch of wonderful guys who happen to have beards helping others.
So why start poking around? You feel better?

For the record many succesful business people don’t have beards as well as many do. It is really really truly not for us to judge.

Turn this bad energy into good and do something kind or worthwhile to a friend or neighbor.

There many other very successful Lubavitchers with full beards.
Hirschel Chitrik, who recently passed away, comes to mind. Wildly successful in his time, he never touched his beard. And there are many others.

Wow this is amazing, but please try getting more area’s covered, legal, accounting, investments.

How about being honest with ourselves for a change?
May 24, 2012 5:11 pm

As someone who spent some quality time working with Meir Eichler and as a relative of Shmulik Brook, I believe that these individuals along with their business and life experience could be very helpful to young people starting out. That being said, what would be MUCH MORE helpful is if we stop burying our heads in the sand, and come to terms with the fact that Shlichus, or Mosdos related work will only be relevant to a very small minority of the up and coming generation. That being the case it would be a great idea for all of us… Read more »
