Unlike some of its predecessors, the new U.S. administration is highly supportive of Israel’s responsibility to prioritize its security needs above all else. While this situation is rare, it is not entirely unprecedented.
As Israel deliberates its next steps, JEM’s Enduring Peace presents the Rebbe’s timely guidance for Israel, including the Rebbe’s urgent message that the window of opportunity will not remain open forever.
Many Jews worldwide have been riding an emotional pendulum, following every development concerning the hostages, and regarding Israel’s security challenges. Within all the frenetic events, there has been a unique positive development on the diplomatic front. The current US administration, with a clear appreciation for Israel’s security needs, is projecting full support for Israel to “do what it needs” to defend itself.
Historically, such moments have been few and far in between.
Narrated by Rabbi Elkanah Shmotkin, director of JEM’s Enduring Peace, the Rebbe’s words in the video talk directly to current events.
The address featured in the video — delivered in the summer of 1982, several days into the Lebanon War — was to a group of high school graduates. At the time, the Americans, preoccupied with a high level diplomatic mission in Europe, had discreetly “given” Israel a window to act.
Articulating a message which he knew would quickly be transmitted to Israel’s leaders, the Rebbe explained that Israel had been presented with a unique window of opportunity which must be utilized.
Enduring Peace is an educational project by JEM dedicated to sharing the Torah’s straightforward and compassionate guidance to security and peace in Israel.

Not sure this is comparable to the current situation, where there is seemingly no such “time limit” on the green light.
Please send this to Bibi and all the Jewish politicians.
Bibi is not the right leader for Israel: he’s like King Shaul, who couldn’t destroy Amalek. Hamas are monsters. Those who support Hamas are monsters. President Trump is right that the Palestinians need to be removed from Azza, but it’s not just Azza; it’s all of Israel: Those who are innocent will get a different and possibly better life elsewhere and those who aren’t innocent don’t deserve life. By having a ceasefire, Hamas has laid mines in Gaza and sending our sons and daughters back in will probably, in all likelihood, result in many soldiers, God forbid, losing their lives.… Read more »
