New York Governor Andrew Cuomo visited the home of Rabbi Rottenberg in Monsey, NY Sunday morning.
He later held a briefing on the attack in which a black man with a machete stabbed 5 people at a Shul on Forshay Road in Monsey during a Chanukah party.
Cuomo said Sunday that the stabbing in a rabbi’s home that wounded five people was evidence of a “cancer in the body politic,” as he said the attack was fueled by intolerance and called it an act of domestic terrorism.
One person was very seriously wounded, the governor told reporters, and remained in critical condition. The rabbi’s son was also injured, Cuomo said. His status and that of the other victims was not clear.
Authorities have not provided a motive for the attack, but Cuomo said there was no doubt it was fueled by hate.
“This is an intolerant time in our country,” he said to reporters outside the rabbi’s home on Sunday morning. “We see anger, we see hatred exploding.”
He added: “It is an American cancer on the body politic.”
Gov. Cuomo repeated an inscription at the Yad Vashem Holocaust Museum in Jerusalem:
“‘A country is not just what it does—it is also what it tolerates.’ Government will step up its efforts to protect the Jewish community.”
I hope all of you are smelling the coffee
Make sure you have in each shul
1. Gun
2. Working phone
3. Door locks
Absolutely correct!
May we never need to use a gun B’ezrat Hashem
In Gov Cuomo’s message I sense an underlying tone/ insinuation blaming this and other attacks on the political environment- i.e. blaming President Trump- I resent this with utmost resentment- he and others should immediately cease from doing this (as it couldn’t be further from the truth) and get down to business in attempting to stop this epidemic- and find, charge and bring these perpetrators to justice!
Ironically, it is far more likely this individual was incited by Obnama’s and his fellow Democrats’ anti-semitism (Omar, Tlaib, etc)
How about someone telling Coumo Obama and the squad.Sad to say these communities voted for these liberals. a cop out side 770 was actually telling me wait till January 2020 when they let the rats out of the cage
i rather hear the blaming on Tlaib and Omar and all the democrats falling over israel , a i think that the blame belongs there.
100% Correct. Can’t understand why any Jew would still vote for anyone representing the Democratic Party. Possibly because voting democratic locally gets them all of the free benefits. It’s no longer worth it.
Democrats started the first Civil War to protect slavery, and now they want to start another one in order to institute the worst form of slavery there is: communism.
of convicts
private operated prisons are a billion dollar industry
but democrats have engineered another form of slavery;
the welfare state where voters are paid in benefits barely enough to get buy so they are kept “feeling disenfranchised” and warned if they don’t vote “they won’t even get this few benefits”. And of course, if you are one of these recipients that dares try better their financial situation, “NO BENEFITS FOR YOU!” and they end up worse off…
I feel so much more safe now that there was a press conference….
Why do Democrats have a problem just calling out antisemitism? Why does he have to include LGBTQ+ and other crimes into the mix? Why can’t he say that Jews have been the victims of vicious attacks by the minority communities and this has to stop pronto? LGBTQ+ and other attacks have ZERO to do with antisemitism. It reminds me of the Democrats in congress who couldn’t call out Ilhan Omar for her antisemitism and needed to include all other sorts of “hate” crimes and water down the bill. Shame on him and his ilk!
Jan first the prisons open up. It will be a free for all and crime will shoot up. You voted democratic you got their beliefs. I saw some of the pro Hillary big time machers shedding tears on recent murders of Jews but they cried about Hillary losing as well. G-d gave them something real to cry about.
I recently finished reading a book on Jewish History, which is so much stained with jewish blood with the help of the local governments, such as the Pogroms , Chelmnitzky , Kristallnacht, The Inquisition… And here we are, 70 years later, with the GOVERNOR of 18 million people personally coming to the house of the Rabbi to offer his help!! In a historical, broader context isn’t it amazing?!!!
