Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, a progressive leader who has implemented woke policies and has been hostile to Israel following the October 7 attacks, announced his resignation after nearly a decade in office.
Citing internal conflicts within the Liberal Party and declining public support, Trudeau stated he would remain in his position until a new leader is chosen.
Trudeau’s decision follows a series of poor polling results indicating a potential loss to the Conservative Party, led by Pierre Poilievre, in the next election.
Parliament, scheduled to resume on January 27, will be suspended until March 24 to facilitate the leadership transition.
During his tenure, Trudeau’s popularity waned due to various issues, including economic concerns and the resignation of his finance minister, Chrystia Freeland, who accused him of political gimmicks.
Recently, Trudeau proved ineffective in negotiating with U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, who threatened tariffs on Canadian imports.
When Trudeau vowed retaliation, Trump mocked him by calling him the “Governor of Canada” and suggesting that Canada be annexed as the 51st U.S. state.
Many in the pro-Israel community held a critical view of Trudeau, who was hostile to Israel as it fights its neighboring enemies since the October 7 massacre in 2023.
Trudeau even said he would arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for war crimes if he arrived on Canadian soil, in line with a warrant for the arrest by the International Criminal Court at The Hague.
Canadian-born Israeli Knesset member Dan Illouz, unusually welcomed Trudeau’s resignation, stating: “I do not usually interfere in the politics of other countries, but Justin Trudeau’s resignation marks the end of a disgraceful era.”
“Since October 7, his government has harmed Israel time and again—supporting anti-Israel resolutions at the UN, pushing for a ceasefire that would have saved Hamas, and standing idly by as antisemitism in Canada reached dangerous levels. As someone who grew up in Canada and still has family and many friends there, I have watched with deep concern as the Jewish community faced a wave of hatred and intimidation.”
Illouz, head of the Israel-Canada Friendship Group, added: “Canada’s moral leadership is important not only to Jews and Israelis but to the entire free world. As a former Canadian citizen who leads the parliamentary friendship group between Israel and Canada, I welcome this change. Whoever replaces him will have the opportunity to restore Canada’s moral compass and strengthen the vital alliance with Israel based on truth, strength, and shared values.”
Ariel Kahana of Israel Hayom said that Trudeau’s likely replacement for is Poilievre was “a true political star, and above all, a great friend of Israel. He has already pledged to move Canada’s embassy to Jerusalem if he wins.”

About time
Time to learn more about Canadian politics. This is not entirely accurate. For example, due to NATO Trudeau or Poilievre or any Canadian PM would need to arrest Netanyahu. I’m not defending or supportive of Trudeau but I think accuracy is important.
Nothing to do with NATO, The US is a NATO member and doesn’t need to arrest Netanyahu, it is totally unconnected to NATO but rather to the Rome charter (the US isn’t a signatory), so no serious consequences if you don’t comply (even for those who are signatories), for example Hungary has said that they won’t comply. But regardless of if he had to comply or not, he made sure to quickly announce that he would, with no apparent reason for that announcement, other than his hostility towards Israel. Which is exactly the point in the article, so next time… Read more »

Medical Assistance in Dying is legal under Justin Trudeau.
Matel Rena Tobin
It looks like it will still be legal in Canada, as perhaps unfortunately the vast majority of people in Canada want it. That was true even under Harper’s previous government, who were considering how and when to implement it. However, under the kook Trudeau it has gotten completely out of hand. It was supposed to be just for people who were terminally ill and would die within 6 months, who could not be cured and who were in great pain that could not be alleviated. Under Trudeau, just about anybody can get Medical Assistance in Dying, if you are depressed,… Read more »
