Dvir Sorek was a wonderful young man who studied in a hesder yeshiva and was soon going to join the IDF. The 18-year-old was the grandson of a Rabbi and Holocaust survivor. He was an avid gardener and according to his friends, was a kind and gentle soul.
On August 7 he was brutally murdered on his way back from Jerusalem to his family home in Ofra. He had been shopping in Jerusalem for books for his teachers as end of the school year gifts.
Rabbi Menachem Kutner, Director, Chabad’s Terror Victims Project (CTVP), has been visiting the family to support them since the tragic murder.
During his visit, Rabbi Kutner told them about a campaign CTVP launched for people to do good deeds in memory of Dvir. He told them that people around the world have responded and are doing mitzvahs in Dvir’s memory.
“Dvir’s parents were deeply touched and so grateful for the outpouring of love for their precious son,” Rabbi Kutner said. “They thanked everyone for the mitzvahs in his name.”
