A young girl named Lily, who was shaken by the shooting at the Chabad Center of Poway over Pesach, decided to cheer up the young victims with some gifts of her own.
The 11-year-old girl from Los Angeles is a classmate of a girl who lives in Poway.
She decided to gift her entire American Girl Doll collection, as well as accessories and many other toys, to the children of Poway.
The gifts were distributed by Poway Shlucha Devorie Goldstein and her sister in law, Mrs. Leah Perl of Los Angeles.
One of the recipients of the gifts was Noya Dahan, the 8 year old Israeli native who was injured in the shooting.
Dahan was presented with a beautiful doll and accessories by Mrs. Goldstein.
School children from the Legacy Academy in Los Angeles drew heartfelt cards, expressing their support for the victims.
Toys, gifts, cards, jewelry and many other gifts came pouring in after the tragedy, as so many tried to comfort the community in some way.
“We were sitting around the Shabbos table, and my husband asked what was the best part of your week,” one of the grateful recipients said. “My kids answered, ‘when Mrs. Perl brought gifts.’ It was the first time in weeks that we just felt happy and did not think about the shooting. Thank you to Leah and everyone that helped. Such a beautiful mitzvah.”
