As most of you know, here in New Orleans, Louisiana, we are dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Ida. There is no power at all in the city. And due to various issues, there may be no power for at least a week. (There is talk that the power outage could possibly continue for the next few weeks!)
Last night, we accompanied a brave lady to the Mikvah in this no-power zone. It had the real sensation of Mesiras Nefesh. We walked with lanterns through a pitch black alleyway to a dark Mikvah building, which is stifling hot due to the power outage and lack of air conditioning. It is close to 100 degrees here and extremely humid. But a Mitzvah is a Mitzvah and Ida won’t get in the way of strong Jewish women.
It was intense and rather frightening, but, we kept saying, it’s easier than what they had to do in Russia!
Please pray for the restoration of electricity and normal conditions. May this be the last mitzvah done with mesiras nefesh needed to tip the scales and bring the Geulah now!

The Aid For Ida campaign aims to raise $50K with the goal of reassuring the Shluchim with the knowledge that they and their families will be cared for. And they, in turn, will continue to care for so many others.
A group of matchers has stepped in to double every donation, providing the essential and immediate relief needed on the ground. Visit abc.org where every dollar you donate will become two! Your contribution will fund the purchase of generators, daily meals, and drinking water along with providing the essential peace of mind the Shluchim and their families so urgently need.
Double the donation. Double the relief.
