The donors deserve lots of credit, or rather all the credit, many people have undertaken significant amount of money.

However most of our larger donors being the great people they are would prefer to stay anonymous, thus leaving us with no choice but not to make a public thank you,

in this zchus I’m sure the aibershter is bentching them with kol tuv selah begashmiyus uberuchniyus, for them and their families. With a kosher un frielichen pesach.

Maybe give some credit to the actual donors ? It wouldn’t be a bad idea to name them this would inspire others

Rabbi Yehuda Gurwitz and Rabbi Sholom Goldstein deserve lots of credit. They are giving the teachers as a token of appreciation for the great work they are doing. Obviously they can decide who to give the money – they collected the money. They decide how to distribute. On the other hand –this distribution of $1000 would not happen if the teachers were making BIG BUCKS. So let me ask the following question: what about the great people (Klei Kodesh) working at Chabad.org., Kehos, The Rebbe’s Library, Jem, SIE, LAHAK – all these Chasidim sacrifice their lives, not getting a big… Read more »

men and women
April 3, 2012 1:39 am

men are traditionally – and especially in jewish tradition – the supposed breadwinners. if they do manage to provide $ for their family (on a teacher’s salary noch dertzu) they’ll certainly clothe and feed their fasmily before they buty themselves new clothes. so the organizers of this project smartly geared something for them – and only with a gift certificate, not cash, knowing the selfless teachers would spend money gven to them to again help their family. this isn’t about rewarding teachers per se, its giving the breadwinners new clothes. as an aside, i’m sure anyone who complained the women… Read more »

I totally agree and feel that women are not better off or less valuable to chinuch, but I would assume that people who are doing such good things don’t think that woman are less important its probably just a lot more money!!! Maybe we comment people should step up to the plate…

April 2, 2012 1:19 pm

While I appreciate the money given to the male teachers, the question remains – what about the female teachers? What about the Morahs of the pre-1a classes? They are the ones who have to change diapers, wait outside in the cold for the buses, wipe the runny noses, deal with temper tantrums – are they any less worthy than the men? I know some women teachers who put in a lot more effort than the Rebbis – and when their day ends at 3 they then have to go home and take care of their OWN families. It’s not too… Read more »

Wonderful thing to do .Our teachers need this recognition, oholei torah is always doing great things for their teachers.
The girls school i.e. Beis Rivkah should learn from this and a. pay their teachers their hard earned money b. show them that they are appreciated and not with a note saying thanks for understanding the lack of payment…
BTW I am not #1

very nice
April 2, 2012 6:32 am

this is a move in the right direction. Teachers deserve so much, and it should be a respected and honored job.

what about patronizing ur own stores in Kan Tziva
April 2, 2012 1:42 am

The Rebbe was very into supporting stores in our neighborhood. Shocked to see our own people patronizing other stores than those in crown heights. It is our people in crown heights that support our mosdoth.
