Over 180 teachers and educators in Crown Heights are set to receive a gift certificate in honor for the upcoming Pesach holiday.
A $1,000 non-expiring certificate to the Hat Box, a men’s clothing store in Flatbush, will allow them to purchase anything from hats, suits, shirts, ties, coats and shoes.
The “small token of appreciation” was arranged by R’ Yehuda Gurwitz and Rabbi Sholom Goldstein with special thanks to R’ Moshe Rubashkin.
“The gift certificate is an appreciation not only for the teachers but also for their families as well, who are partners in their invaluable and holy work,” said the donors.
The token was given to the male teachers of the local Yeshivas, including Oholei Torah Elementary, Mesivta and Zal; Lubavitcher Yeshiva Crown Street, Chovevai Torah Mesivta and Zal; Lubavitcher Yeshiva Ocean Parkway elementary and Mesivta; Darchei Menachem; Ohr Menachem, Cheder at the Ohel and 770.
Drizn gives for bochurim..
The donors deserve lots of credit, or rather all the credit, many people have undertaken significant amount of money.
However most of our larger donors being the great people they are would prefer to stay anonymous, thus leaving us with no choice but not to make a public thank you,
in this zchus I’m sure the aibershter is bentching them with kol tuv selah begashmiyus uberuchniyus, for them and their families. With a kosher un frielichen pesach.
Maybe give some credit to the actual donors ? It wouldn’t be a bad idea to name them this would inspire others
Its impressive to see you involved in this being on the front lines in doing good for the community as always, with your positive energy and chesed driven,in this zchus should bless you and your families…
Is this the thing that sbd gives to?
Village of love, this gesture express what lubavitch is about.
So many nice things happening this season… Great nachas yud aleph nissan spirit!!!
You are right iyh someone will take upon themselves to give them money too… For all you know it might be you…
Rabbi Yehuda Gurwitz and Rabbi Sholom Goldstein deserve lots of credit. They are giving the teachers as a token of appreciation for the great work they are doing. Obviously they can decide who to give the money – they collected the money. They decide how to distribute. On the other hand –this distribution of $1000 would not happen if the teachers were making BIG BUCKS. So let me ask the following question: what about the great people (Klei Kodesh) working at Chabad.org., Kehos, The Rebbe’s Library, Jem, SIE, LAHAK – all these Chasidim sacrifice their lives, not getting a big… Read more »
So so true… If only everyone would believe it things would be a lot better
Zeidy is I’m sure having a lot of nachas…
For posting such positive news…
Doing great things for the community, as always, keep it up!
Congratulations to our board member YG for fulfilling this great task.
For breaking the stereotype that teachers are not appreciated it means a lot to teachers as well to the parents of this community. Rabbis gurwitz, goldstein and rubashkin. Thank you
I’m a big fan of people who do good things…. I don’t care if they don’t do everything good. The things that count is what’s important…
I only have one word to say… AWESOME!!!!
Moshe ruubashkin your the best!
Great work!!!
The families of these 3 people should have a lot of nachas from them, they are great
this project helped me, in a way that you can’t imagine its giving me koiach to do good!!!
People complain and complain I’m sick of hearing people not doing just looking for things which their inner desire can complain and complain about, this is my complaint.
thumbs up to all the participants awesome stuff
As a partial participant in this project I was very excited about contributing to this most amazing gesture when yudele gorowitz came to me, it made me feel like there is hope to greater things happening in this community. I’m glad everyone feels the same. Thank you.
Thank you so much for doing such a nice thing, with the achdus of the project, non political, thank you yehuda gurwitz and.moshe rubashkin, for putting together such a great thing.
Rabbi Goldstein U R incredible!! THANK U so much for everything u do for our boys and teachers!!
Its about time our male teachers were taken care of!! There is no way any rebbe would go and buy themselves clothes this erev pesach ….I’m so delighted for u all!! njoy and a kosher and happy pesach to u all and thank u for all u do for my sons !!
men are traditionally – and especially in jewish tradition – the supposed breadwinners. if they do manage to provide $ for their family (on a teacher’s salary noch dertzu) they’ll certainly clothe and feed their fasmily before they buty themselves new clothes. so the organizers of this project smartly geared something for them – and only with a gift certificate, not cash, knowing the selfless teachers would spend money gven to them to again help their family. this isn’t about rewarding teachers per se, its giving the breadwinners new clothes. as an aside, i’m sure anyone who complained the women… Read more »
Many thanks for this wonderful gesture. You have a share in our important work. Just one suggestion next time please divide the voucher in half so that my wife can also buy some clothing for yom tov. Thanks again. A Graetful. Rebbe
this gift is given to the teachers, but I am sure that some use the certificates to buy some clothing, hats for their kids.iow it goes to the teacher’s family
Female teachers have their husband who works,or maybe he is a melamed and get the reward anyways
thank you so much for those involved in this wonderful mitzvah
Yudele. Gurwitz is the man of the futue.
Yudel gorowitz and sholom goldstein getting moshe rubashkin involved…..
Thank you moishe rubashkin for getting involved in this…. The good days are back!!!
Its probably in the zchus of these organizers that people are starting to do things for teachers… They did it last year and kol hakovoid!!!
Thank you to those whom participated and made this all possible it is a great feeling to know that we are appreciated…
What a great idea and special gesture… Its so beautiful to see people really caring and doing for the community instead of the many that just talk.. There are those that actually step up and accomplish.. Yasher Koach.. May you all be blessed!!
I totally agree and feel that women are not better off or less valuable to chinuch, but I would assume that people who are doing such good things don’t think that woman are less important its probably just a lot more money!!! Maybe we comment people should step up to the plate…
While I appreciate the money given to the male teachers, the question remains – what about the female teachers? What about the Morahs of the pre-1a classes? They are the ones who have to change diapers, wait outside in the cold for the buses, wipe the runny noses, deal with temper tantrums – are they any less worthy than the men? I know some women teachers who put in a lot more effort than the Rebbis – and when their day ends at 3 they then have to go home and take care of their OWN families. It’s not too… Read more »
if the Hat Box gives to all the mosdos that keep coming in to stores on Kingston Avenue, asking for donations? Just asking.
This is truly special but why not from Kan Tziva? just a thought………

A.M Bepoke the best place for men’s clothing?
Very Very nice non the less
Wonderful thing to do .Our teachers need this recognition, oholei torah is always doing great things for their teachers.
The girls school i.e. Beis Rivkah should learn from this and a. pay their teachers their hard earned money b. show them that they are appreciated and not with a note saying thanks for understanding the lack of payment…
BTW I am not #1
this is a move in the right direction. Teachers deserve so much, and it should be a respected and honored job.
The Rebbe was very into supporting stores in our neighborhood. Shocked to see our own people patronizing other stores than those in crown heights. It is our people in crown heights that support our mosdoth.
Two young askanim working with a older askan…. Its a mix of good energy with the wisdom of experience.
education is top priority
thank you Rebbeim and Morahs
Go sholom!
It is really appreciated at this time of year, Just as it was last year , May hashem bless you in return.
Yudele and Sholom, you make the Schapiro family proud!!
I think this is a beautiful gesture. As a female teacher who is months behind on pay, I’d love to buy something new for Yom Tov. Why only for the men?
Shkoyach Yudale G!
Thank you! Your the best!
Yosher koach!!
Yudele gorowitz and sholom goldstein top 2!!!
Moshe rubashkin doing great things for the community again, nice to see,
Finally someone does something nice, why complain??? Maybe you #1 should do it for woman?
