Gan Chamesh Celebrates Song

Gan Chamesh of the Five Towns celebrated its annual Supperette on Wednesday, March 14. It was a beautiful and meaningful evening that focused on the children’s musical experiences. Aside for being an evening out for mothers and women in the community, the Gan Chamesh Supperette was an opportunity to applaud the musical accomplishments of the young students and to feature the importance of music in early childhood education.

Melody and song is an integral part of children’s learning and the unique music program offered at Gan Chamesh by Morah Shira Charles was developed specifically for preschool aged children to learn rhythm, tone, beats and incorporate gross motor development and fitness. As Rabbi Shneur Zalman, The founder of Chabad said, “Music is the language of the soul.” For generations so much of yiddishkeit has been taught to children through song. From davening to Yomim Tovim, music is an important part of children’s lives.

Close to 125 women joined together to honor four outstanding women, Morah Mingy Dworcan, Educator of the Year, Mrs. Cheryl Friedman, Mother of the Year, Mrs. Shuly Rubel, Grandmother of the Year and a special Hakaras Hatov award was presented to Mrs. Evy Guttman. It is women like these that show so much dedication to the school, to the community and to their families that are true role models for us all.

The evening ended off with some very happy winners from the amazing raffle. Some prizes included an Apple iPad, 2 airline tickets to anywhere in the United states, magnificent jewelry, an American Girl Doll package , fine artwork from J-Mark Interiors as well as packages with many gift certificates from various local businesses and much more! A special thank you to Mrs. Dina Shemesh and Mrs. Faigy Hertz for putting together this phenomenal raffle and thank you to all raffle donors for your unending support.
