A gala Hakhel event and Siyum on Maseches Kesubos took place at Lubavitcher Yeshiva in Crown Heights on Thursday evening.
Celebrating the Siyum were Crown Heights residents who have completed the learning of 112 Blatt Gemara, finishing Maseches Kesubos by learning a Daf Gemorah per day either with a shiur, by chavrusa, online podcast shiur, or by themselves.
The elegant full catered dinner was designed by Chani Greenbaum events and was catered by Table One Catering, and featured live music by Yossi Cohen.
Rabbi Menachem Mendel Yusevitz served as the MC for the event. Rabbi Fishel Oster recited the Siyum, and gave encouragement to participants to continue in their learning. He also discussed the Rebbe’s Hadran on Maseches Kesubos.
Divrei Chizuk were given by Rabbi Shlomo Greenwald, Founder of Kolel L’Horaah Ma’asis in Crown Heights. Rabbi Greenwald spoke about the importance of people who are in business to learn daily, and noted that with all the shiurim and learning opportunities that are currently online, there is no excuse for anyone not to participate in some kind of regular Shiur in Torah learning.
Guest speaker for the event was Rabbi Chaim Shapiro, Menahel of Yeshivas TT”L in Morristown, NJ. Rabbi Shapiro related how his father gave Shiurim for the Dial a Daf Shiur for years, and seeing him give these Shiurim made a great impression on him about the importance of daily learning of Torah.
The Haschalas Maseches Nedarim was given by Rabbi Shia Werner.
Shiurim which participated in the Siyum were Rabbi Fischel Oster – Merkas Avreichim, Rabbi Shmuel Rosenstein – Anshei Lubavitch/Geshem Shul, Rabbi Alexander Heppenheimer – Chevra Shas, Rabbi Holtzberg/Rabbi Shia Werner – Anash Shul, Rabbi Hershel Lustig – Beis Eliezer Yitzchok, and Rabbi Zalman Shanowitz – Shain’s Shul.
The event was a joint project by Irgun Torah and Rabbi Shloimy Greenwald, Founder of Kolel L’Horaah Ma’asis.
