Months have gone by since the massacre in the Chabad House in Mumbai, still, most of what occured remains unknown. Every now and then new pieces of information are told about the tragic event that shocked the Lubavitch community and the world.
COL’s Hebrew magazine recently published new details about the day of the murder that might reveal the time of the passing of Shliach Rabbi Gavriel Holtzberg, HY”D.
A family member of Rabbi Holtzberg said this week that a month ago a man told him that on Thursday, November 27, hours after the terrorists seized the Nariman-Chabad House, he spoke to Rabbi Holtzberg.
The man’s identity is being kept secret by the request of the family.
“It was on Wednesday night,” said the man, who spends time in both Israel and India. “After I heard that the terrorists broke into the Chabad House, I tried to contact Rabbi Gabi many times and he did not answer. I was very worried.”
“At 5:30AM on Thursday, 8:30 in Israel, Rabbi Gabi answered his phone. Before I managed to say anything, he said: “They are shooting at us, what do we do?” His voice sounded terribly weak. I wanted to say something but the phone disconnected.”
According to witnesses, Rabbi Holtzberg was found lying on one of the floors in the Chabad House, after being shot in the leg and losing blood. “I tried calling him many times after that, but he didn’t answer anymore.”
An hour after that, the nanny Sandra Samuels was seen escaping the Chabad House with Moishy in her arms. “After hearing this man’s story, we assume that (Gabi) passed away on Thursday,” a family member said.
its not respectful?do you think it is respectful and honoring to there neshomos that all people can do is sit at there computers and yab and yab, while saying loshon hora about a man who decided to tell his story now?!!all that some of us are trying to say is:leave him alone whether or not you know him.go to your own buisnesses and homes to do what is REALLY important!thank you.to number 10:i am sorry if you were hurt about what i said and i apologise.
plz dont say shut up!!! its not respectful to the kedoshim!!!!
thank you!
gabi and rivkis cuzin
this is a stupid argument!leave well enough alone. For whatever reasons, that man did not want to share his small story. If you think he is wrong then think so or vice versa but just leave it alone.i am sure all of you have better things to do with yourselves.i agree with #7 seriously!shut up!
No we wouldn’t, because the Yahrtzeit goes when we find him, not when we assume he was kiiled.
Shut up!
The question is a good one.
If he’d revealed this earlier, they would have known the correct date to put on the matzeiva for the yohrtzeit.
#4 I think people become very traumatized and hold on to info because of fear and feeling paralyzed- who knows why this person kept it to himself. Why shouldn’t this info come out?Everything else has come out and many unanswered questions.Maybe he wants to shed light on the last time the rabbi was alive- whatever the case, people do want to know the facts. If you do not want to know, simply skip the paragraph and don’t read. But don’t dictate what info should be revealed. To the person who is finally able to speak about it, we wish you well too.It must be… Read more »
yes. and anyways, maybe it was hard for the family and this anonymous person to speak about the tragedy.DONT JUDGE INNOCENT PEOPLE AND DONT START SPREADING GOSSIP!!!
Why would they want to reveal it to anyone??
is it your buisnes??
its a private thing that the family keeps…
yes, why now? i second that.
If this man really made this phone call, why would he only reveal to everyone now what he experience.
