The Gabboim of 770’s Main Shul have issued a statement in response to yesterday’s violent incident in the Shul and the resulting outcry.
In a letter addressed to Yosef Yitzchok Assulin, Sholom Dovber Assulin, Levi Botnick, Moshe Blumenfeld, Yaakov Yosef, Leibel Notik, Avishai Landa, and Yisroel Reichman, the gabboim have stated that they are banning these individuals from the Shul.
“In connection to the incident at the Tzivos Hashem Kinus, the following bochurim have been banned from 770 and the surrounding area,” they wrote.
The Gabboim wrote that the individuals are banned from now on due to damage they have created in 770 and the community, specifically last night, which they noted was “in front of young children.”
The letter is signed by Gabboim Avrohom Holtzberg, Yosef Losh and Zalman Lipsker.
Organizers of the petition said the letter is the “first step in making a change,” pointing out that this is “the first time in 25 years that a letter such as this has been written.”
“This letter is the first step in the right direction,” organizers said. “We hope the Gabboim will continue in this direction and enforce their ruling. Otherwise, we will demand new and proper leadership.”
“770 should be a welcoming place to any Jew who wants to join, whether it is to daven or for a Shiur. The status quo is unacceptable.”

Not enough time for CHANGE
I’m genuinely shocked that people are taking this bad seriously!
Let’s picture what will happen: the gabboim will see one of the banees in 770; he will tell him to leave; the boy will leave and then reenter. And this will happen over and over until one side will give up. And I predict that young bachurim have more stamina that the gabboim.
Of course, the police can be called. But that won’t happen cuz ultimately the gabboim are on their team
To “Wow”. There is a very easy way to restrict their access. Get a restraining order. if violated they can face serious charges.
Nice to see the gabaim FINALLY taking action. We have been suffering so long and waiting for some sanity! I hope the gabaim realize that if they take a strong stance against terror, then the community will support them, but if they waiver in any way, then we the community will replace them immediately with those who are not afraid to do the job. So keep the pressure on! It’s working.
Is this a legal restraining order?
Or just a deflection?
This is a legally binding letter
Thank you gaboyim.
so sad that this happened at all and even worse in front of the kids
I want to see them stop them at the door
I assume that means that you will stand guard at the entrances 24/7 so that you can be on guard so that you don’t miss seeing them be stopped at the door.
Question is, what’s your plan for watching all the entrances at the same time?
It’s simple.the gaboim need to issue a legal restraining order on these individuals from entering 770. Assuming they are going to ignore the order, the gaboim then proceed with the steps traditionally taken when people violate such orders. Usually ending in prison time. (That’s if they continually ignore the order)
How do they manage by all the rallies that happen in 770 throughoutthe year? They have staff who guard the entrances. No adults/bochurim may enter downstairs unless if they are a teacher, staff etc…
Interesting what it takes to move people to fulfill their duties competently.
Now we need all three Rabbonim to sign a letter stating that these individuals must listen to the gabbaim…. And if not, for the safety of the community not only is it not mesira to call the police on them, rather it is an obligation and mitzvah to call the police on them if they disobey. Enough of this nonsense. This response from the gabboyim must be serious and enforceable…Others must learn that there are serious consequences for such behavior so this will not happen again.
Why not revoke their visa ? Or send them back to e”y??
Unfortunately they’re not always there to these some of them have American citizenship
I was there. This was an absolute disgrace. Using violence and vandalizing a kids program (in front of 200+ children) for showing a rallly of the Rebbe made by an organization who has different beliefs to them is an alltime low that is unprecedented. The irony was that one of the schools which had a large participation in the program (including their principals) was a school that promotes Yechi very strongly. I’m sure their children and staff they were equally upset and disappointed. Unfortunately, what happened last night was a build up years of turning a blind eye to this… Read more »
Let’s see if the gabboim request from brod glukowsky to revoke their i20 visa’s…file with police a restraining order…and if they come near 770 they should be arrested. What they last night is cross all lines…in front of kids…
Like terrorism leaders They make PR statements to get money from the masses but inside the youth to act violence same here let’s see them take action and block them walking in the door..
“770 should be a welcoming place to any Jew who wants to join, whether it is to daven or for a Shiur. The status quo is unacceptable.“
I have not set foot in 770 in many years precisely because it is NOT a welcoming place for anyone who doesn’t want a part of the embarrassing, shameful Shtick that goes on. Halevai this should be the first step in restoring the Shul of my childhood and young adulthood to a Makom Kadosh!
Only solution is to get them deported,no more visas!!!
How to they plan on keeping these Bochurim out of 770?
The Gaboim aren’t and shouldn’t get into a fighting match with these chevra, when they try entering 770, which they will.
This needs to be done with a legal restraining order otherwise the Gabboim might end up in jail together with those loser’s.
This is Not the first such incident. There was chillul yom tov etc.etc.and the hanholo was quiet.they have to be held accountable too.Their continued silence encouraged these misguided young souls to do what they did.Enough with fanaticism in the community.this is not Taliband country.
BH. can someone please explain what actually happened?

Nyc now has a fund to bring security to places of worship. They will pay for security if it is requested. Time 770 had security guards as the gabboim cant keep these bochurim out without getting beaten up. They also cant watch 770 24/7 but security guards can. To get a restraining order you need an arrest and a appearance before a judge so there is no restraining order in place now
They need security guards for 770 and nyc will pay for them if they just apply for the grant. Gabboim are not security guards to watch 24/7 to keep these bochurim out.
If they are registered in 770 with a student Visa, then since they can not enter 770, automatically their Visa should be revoked and sent back to Israel, no?
You guys don’t get it… Some of the people involved are Americans, born and bred in crown heights. So they can’t be deported. Simple as that.
Sadly it took for our children to witness this horrible situation for something to be finally done. I hope they mean business. I grew up in crown heights and it pains me what happened to 770 and how our community let this happen, time to put an end to this once and for all.
I’m glad you finally posted the names of those that have taken hostage of 770. They and their terrorizing ways don’t belong here.
It’s so hard to get my kids to take thier kids to Beis Chayenu..we who BH were there yrs ago are desperate for our kids to have strong desires of השיבה כבריאשונה At least when there is a school program the kids get to go… Here we go…too sad I can only say there must have been lots of kedusha for such an outrageous לעומת זה to happen in front of the kids עד מתי Let’s put the enfasis on the IKar, extra and tons of mivtzoim, light and good deeds ..to finish the last darkness of golus, trachtn gut… Read more »
Public Apology and written letter to each child /school that was there with their strong apology and taking on themselves act of kindness for the whole year that they banned from 770. Gabomin and Tzvious HaShem might be able to find some way to teach these young individuals, that some are CH born kids, a lesson that they obligated to fulfill. Maybe their Mashpia can share any thoughts how these guys can take a year off 770 and do community service and do something different for all CH kids that they have insulted. They are all young and aggressive so… Read more »
I am from flatbush and sometimes when I visit crown heights I stop off for a mincha or maariv. I read here that there are young extreme fellows who I assume are from the Yechi faction. If they are so fired up why don’t they fight against the immodest dressing of so many young
