Fund to Support Grieving Parents After Loss of 2 Year Old Boy

Tragically this week, sweet 2-year-old Berel Fogelman returned his pure soul to his Creator.

The sudden and shocking news has devastated his loving parents, big sister, extended family, their community, as well as the entire Jewish community at large.

Berel’s parents, Rabbi Shmulik and Sarah Fogelman יבלח”ט, along with his sister, have dedicated their lives to serving as directors of Chabad of Shrewsbury and UMASS Medical School. They work tirelessly to enhance and nourish the lives of hundreds of Jewish students on campus as well as provide support through Bikkur Cholim for patients that come from near and far for treatment at UMASS.

For 2 years Berel suffered from an illness unknown to doctors worldwide. Each milestone he met was received with overwhelming joy yet brought about new challenges as his condition remained unique to only him. On the 24th of Menachem Av the news of his passing came as a shock to all those who loved him dearly!

When Berel was born it became clear that something was amiss, he spent weeks in the NICU but was ultimately able to come home to his loving family. His parents tirelessly made every effort to research therapies and care for their dear child, going above and beyond to attend to his every need. Berel’s care ultimately took over Rabbi Shmulik and Rebbetzin Fogelman’s lives and for the past two years, they worked valiantly to provide Berel with everything he needed including medical necessities and machinery, therapies, and medical research. Despite these demands, the Fogelman’s continued their incredible work as shluchim, running their Chabad centers catering to their community and medical students, Bikkur Cholim, including providing nourishing home-cooked meals, as well as taking care of both Berel and their daughter Raizel’s daily needs.

While we cannot eliminate their pain, a group of family and friends have organized this campaign so we can help ease their burden by providing financial assistance to cover the 2 years of medical expenses, much-needed family support, costs of maintaining and running a flourishing Chabad center, and last but not least to keep pure Berel’s Legacy alive with the Bikkur Cholim house and activities they provide, that will be dedicated in his memory.
